Default Sergio Rodriguez

Rumour on the ISH boards is that Sergio's agent is pushing for an trade. Being on his rookie-scale contract still, he can opt out and leave to Europe (like country mate Juan Carlos Navarro), and leave the Blazers with nothing in return. Kevin Pritchard knows this and will probably trade him for something less if nothing he wants of same value turns up.

Would you guys like a trade for Sergio? Maybe Kapono's contract goes to Portland, in return a packaged with an athletic wing like Batum

what do you guys think?

I think Portland really likes Batum. If anything, I see them keeping him and dumping Outlaw somewhere when it comes time to start handing out some big contracts to their main guys. They have no need for Kapono whatsoever IMO.

I think Sergio could be had with a future 1st rounder if he is giving off signs that he might go back to Europe. But if the Raptors give that up for him, he'll still only be a backup here in Toronto and would likely have better money and playing time waiting for him in Europe.

Id rather have Outlaw. He could easily be our starting SF for years to come.
Only drawback is he's young and Id rather have Vet come in at this point.

There is no way Portland gives up Batum/Sergio, or any of their young guys for Jason Kapono.

I think trading for Sergio would be a bit of a waste. He's not going to get minutes or big money here in Toronto anyways. Trading for him would be like Memphis throwing away a future 1st on Navarro. I can easily see him going back to Europe for better money and playing time.

I don't see the point. He's been in the league what, 3 years? And all he's really shown consistenly is that he's turnover-prone, which we don't need from a backup. I think Ukic has shown he's capable of half-decent minutes.

How about instead we go for Bellinelli and a package as he's out of favour with GS.

To TO

Belinelli
Marcus Williams
Turiaf

to GS:

Kapono
Humps
Solomon

Helps both teams and moves players that are unhappy and gives them a fresh start.

Bellineli > Kapono, also a young SG that have tremendous potential.. especially when AP is leaving next year.

hard to imagine Warriros would take Kapono for Bellineli straight.. considering that they need some PF/C, throwing Humps in package might make it more attractive

Humps
Kapono

Bellineli
Williams (useless but just to make deal work.. if Turiaf would be better, also don't see them taking Solomon)

Belinelli would never be considered better than Kapono. He hasn't proved anything. Kapono has been one of the top three pt shooters in the league for a few years and could fit right into their rotation. If it's not good enough throw a pick in.

PG - Calderon/Williams/Ukic
SG - Parker/Belinelli/Adams
SF - Moon/Graham
PF - Bosh/Bargs
C - JO/ Turiaf/ Jawai

much more balance lineup
