Default What to do at tryouts..

I got some major tryouts/trials on saturday and I'm really nervous and worried about it. Just wonderd what you guys think you should do at tryouts to try and impress the coach, but not screw up alot.

Thanks, i can't get it off my mind.

Talk to them, make sure they know who you are. And make sure to dunk on as many people as you can.

Talk to the coaches? Because all the players are trying out. I'll be the youngest there and i know for sure that i won't be the best player there.

If you get a chance talk to the coaches. If you don't get to then play/work harder than every other dude there. Especially on D. Hound your man and play every defensive possesion like the game is on the line. When everyone else takes a water break or whatever grab a ball and just start doing shooting drills. Talk while you're doing drills or scrimmage or whatever, encouraging the other guys to keep going or giving instructions like alerting guys on picks and cutters. Be really confident in everything you do but not cocky.

All that stuff will probably not only get you noticed and have them think your a coaches type player.

Good luck!

SCORE. PERIOD at tryouts thats ALL YOU SHOULD DO! unless they know who you already are ..... passing the ball to someone else and they score won't do nothing for you. straight up baskets they will notice you trust me ......

I know your a smart enough player to ignore this advice 20Dime, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt be an assasin on offense. Get people involved, but dont let it detract from what you want to market to the coaches by way of skills/ability/balls.

20Dime is looking at tryouts just a little bit beyond highschool tryouts.

it would help to know what kind of playing style the coach runs and what the team needs as far as player types. other than that, just try to get noticed as much as possible whether it's scoring, passing, or just playing hardnosed defense.

good luck and let us know what happens.

Play as hard as you can and dont hold anything back. Also, make sure not to be a slacker on defense. I realize you arent trying out for a H.S. team, but the only time I tried out for a team (in H.S.) i made it on the team based on my defensive ability alone. Things might be different in a street ball league but most coaches know that a good defender can be just as valuable as a good scorer.

Just go out and try. If they see effort over talent you will greatly improve your chances. If you know you are not the best player there then they likely have their starting 5 locked down and ready to go. In order to make to team, you have to go out and show you can do the little things and bring something new from the bench every time you check into the game.
