Bringing in a great college coach? And someone mentioned Pitano who fell flat on his face already once in the NBA.

Just remember there have been some great college players who even won college players of the year who came to the NBA and sat on the bench.

Most recently; Reddick and Morrison.

Just because you have been successful coaching kids does not mean you will be successful coaching slightly older kids who have huge egos and make millions of dollars.

It's a totally different game and atmosphere.

There is talk that Thibadeau? (assistant) in Boston is a candidate for head coaching sometime in the future. Don't know how his philosophy compares to Colangelo. I thought he was more of a defensive style coach.

If BC likes more of a running style then he needs to find someone that fits that style. But also has to find some players as well. But in the end it is usually defense that wins championships.

Bet he wishes now he was able to get D'Antoni. However, I don't know the tampering rules because I believe Phoenix had to give permission for the Raptors to talk to D'Antoni and if that was the case there was no chance for them to get him anyways.

I really admire Jeff Van Gundy as a coach.

Whenever ive seen him coach in either NY or Houston, i was totally impressed in his defensive schemes and preparedness for games. His passion for the game was obvious as well.

However...

im curious to see how Jay T does, and would love to see him excell.

Goes to show how much armchair GMs know. lol

To be fair, what could most coaches do with Memphis' roster anyways. Dumping Gasol for nothing should not result in wins. You're basically lumping yourself into the "armchair GM" group with your impressive use of hindsight anyway.

Seriously, I'm not trying to attack you or anything but how do you know that? It's just that I'm not familiar with him being a head coach or anything like that, so I think maybe I'm missing something.

The only two guys I would want besides the already taken ones... (ie. D'antoni, Carlyle, Adelman, Scott) are Coach K (brings clout and you know he can deal with huge egos as he's the one to coach the USA team) and potentially bring good FA's in 2010. The other Ettore Messina from Cross seas. Is supposedley is going to be the first coach from overseas if anyone comes. Considering his ties with Colangelo and the Assistant GM he could be next in line.

I've been watching the raptors since '95

Very good at
- smiling
- cheerleading

Very poor in
- drawing plays (couldn't get an isolation play for stoudamire, traded same season)
- using talents (coached Tmac and C Billups!!!)
- negotiating with refs (would just "laugh it off")

after getting fired by raptors, coached only 38 games for wizards the following season

If any of you think a coach is going to turn the Raptors into a defensive team, you are ****ing retarded.

No matter how good the coach is, the fact of the matter is nobody on the Raptors outside of a couple players can play any type of D.

We need a coach that would implement an up tempo fast paced offense. Simple and plain.
