Re: Has Derrick Rose had a negative effect on Luol Deng?
The Bulls are only 20 games into the season and nobody could have expected this team to gel by now. Deng has been largely disappointing, but the last 2 or 3 games has come back close to what we hoped he'd be for us. AND ROSE IS DEFINITELY NOT THE PROBLEM FOR DENG's SHORTCOMINGS.
This is such a selfish team offensively I think that it has become the biggest problem for the team out of all it's problems. This Bulls squad will never be a good defensive team, they just don't have the personnel to do it. However there is no excuse for being selfish on O and not making the extra pass or two.
It seems like no one still understands that if you work the ball and put it in Rose's hands more, eventually the game will come to you on the offensive end. The Bulls had a great display of team work offensively against the Wizards. BUT IT'S THE WIZARDS! Mediocre or better defensive teams won't let the Bulls move the ball that easy, but the Bulls have some quick players and some good shooters so they still should be able to work the ball around effectively.
It sucks that Hughes(while he's shooting well(right not), especially from 3pt land) is an insane volume shooter. He shoots whenever and wherever, and it really kills the Bulls offensive scheme sometimes. The same can go for Gordon, but he is the Bulls true #1 scorer and shooter. If both those guys, especially Hughes would stop taking long jumpers,5 seconds into the offense, with no rebounders downlow, the Bulls offense would have 5-10 more trips down the court to work for a better shot.
The Knicks are in town tomorrow night, and all I can say is this. I want to see Derrick Rose truly assert himself. He could go for 30-40 on the Knicks if wants. D'antoni has the been using mostly a 7 player rotation. That means the Bulls should run them ragged and expose them in the paint on D. If the Bulls move the ball like they did against the Wiz(New York will let them do the same) they will win by 10-20. If the selfish Bulls team takes the court, its gonna be down to the wire or a loss.
OH YEA... last thing. For anyone suggesting playing Rose a little less. NOOOOOOOOOO! I don't think he is gonna hit a rookie wall, and unless an injury stems from to much playing time, let the kid get as much burn as possible. He eats, breathes, and sleeps basketball, so he won't get tired of playing around 40 mpg every game.
