Beginning of year expectations & Now!!!
Let's all be honest, what did each of us expect at the beginning of the season and what do we expect now?
At the beginning of the season, I wrote on here that I thought we would be just above a .500 team at the all star break. I would be happy with that if we would turn the corner and hit on all cylinders from that point to come playoff time.
At this point, I think we're right on track with that come all star break. We'll be just above a .500 club.
I honestly am not sure that we're contenders though it's still too early to tell. I thought we'd be playing better ball together than this. I knew it was going to take time but I just haven't seen enough glimpses of potential to be upbeat about the suns season this year.
Throw in the injury to Amare, the family issues with Barbs and that has slowed us down some, but I'm not too impressed with our offensive structure or our defensive strategy at all.
Nash looks like he's handcuffed to follow a certain structure and that's not good. Porter needs to let Nash be Nash from about the mid point of the 3rd quarter on. If we could go with more of a structured half court philosophy for the first half, then let Nash open it up in the 2nd half I think would be a very good recipe. I like the idea of hammering it in to the low post to Amare and Shaq the first half. Let's get their bigs into foul trouble, then run them off the court in the 2nd half.
Defensively, we just look like old slow legs out there. I'm not sure the answer to that problem.
