Default Dwight howard is averaging 4 blocks a game.

Wow. thats just incrdible. i wonder if he'll be able to keep that up for the rest of the season. as good as his 14.5 boards per game is or him averaging 20 boards in the last 4 or 5 games, that 4 blocks a game is very impressive.

14 points 15 boards 4 blocks
23 points 14 boards 6 blocks
21 points 23 boards 6 blocks 3 steals
23 points 22 boards 6 blocks

Thats 4 of the last 5 games his played. to think he hasnt even began to scatch the surfice on the offensive, this kid has the potential to be a top 5 center of alltime if he improves on offense.

We get it. There is always someone better. That doesn't make Howard's feats any less impressive. Not at all.

I'm biased here because olajuwon was/is pretty much my idol. on and off the court.

To ever catch up to Olajuwan as a player one must first master the Dream Shake.

Dwight is definitely nowhere near Olajuwan in skill, but based purely on the numbers he actually isnt that far off. Can Dwight average 3bpg for 10+ years? We have to wait and see.

Olajuwon and abdul jabbar are the greatest shot blockers of alltime. it's not even close.watch the way olajuwon allways kept his feet. i dont think i eve saw him fall for a pump fake. the guy was a assasin on defense.

Well drazen was a awesom player. had he not been lost to the nba, he could have been anything. losing drazen was not only a loss to his loved ones, but it was a great loss to all nba fans and the game of basketball. we lost out on seeing a super player.

Russel, Wilt(had they kept the stat) and Howard all have Jabbar moving down this list. He's still a great shotblocker, just not 2nd best of all time.

ALL-TIME NBA BLOCKS LEADERS (BPG) Last updated 2006

1. Mark Eaton 3.50
2. Manute Bol 3.34
3. Hakeem Olajuwon 3.09
4. David Robinson 2.99
5. Dikembe Mutombo 2.98
6. Alonzo Mourning 2.93
7. Elmore Smith 2.90
8. Theo Ratliff 2.70
9. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 2.57
10. Shawn Bradley 2.55

Bol played alot less games then olajuwon. it makes it easier. i doubt he could keep that up if he played the same amount of games.also abdul jabbar got screwed because alot of his blocks didnt count. you gotta look at the number of games to. mark eaton though was a beast on defense.

they're like two totally different kinds of shot blockers. hakeem was the sneaky/intellectual type. he'd trick you to go one direction, pretend to give you confidence for an easy shot, and then he'd whack your ball back to earth. dwight's like the opposite. he doesn't care where you're going. he's not even trying to trick you. he's letting you go anywhere, but when you release, he's flying to wherever you are anyway and swatting that sh!t to kansas.

blocks are important but not as important as you think. its best to use your blocking ability to alter the shots rather than altering the trajectory
