For the Bobcats, they had NO big man depth, and were lacking in overall talent. They got Diaw because May has been a disaster so far, and between him and Bell two guys who play team ball, pass, play defense.

Bell is/was highly overrated. Only reason he was getting very hyped of late was because he was making his 3's at a high% last couple years, but not this year. He's not even the defensive specialist Bowen is but a lot of people talk about him like he is. Its crazy to me how some players get so hyped for playing defense, and not even outstanding at that. Even then he's 32, Bobcats are going nowhere in the near future, so what exactly is the point of getting him? Are they going to move Augustin, the fan favorite, back to the bench then? When its very likely a major reason for getting rid of J Rich was to give DJ more opportunities.

They could've gotten a Diaw in FA. Even Dudley was serviceable in that role. Its a wash with him, and almost silly when you consider he hasn't been a factor with the Porter's Suns.

I mean theres very little positive on the Bobcats side in terms of the trade from what i see. If they got draft picks, fine. But a 32 year old SG defensive specialist that plays the same positions as the 2 youth combo guards you're trying to develop? A versatile Forward that was getting no run, and stock was at alltime low? For a borderline superstar player?

Just so shady

It makes me laugh some Sun's fans actually are disappointed. Some of you homers have no clue the steal you got. J Rich is possibly one of the best slashers in the league. I'd say very close to Wade. Nash feeding J Rich with oops and cuts to the basket is going to significantly improve them, and he can also hit the 3. Defense? Pffft, did you not see the signs of failure this new halfcourt slowdown, defensive focused change to their playstyle brought?

Sun's/Kerr got bailed out by MJ

Diaw has been a turnover machine in the clutch, making very few decent decisions. He's got lots of ability, which makes people think he's good - but he'll make you rack up the losses in real life. He is an underrated one on one defender, but he is still undersized even at PF. Remember, Atlanta used to use him as a point guard.

Robin Lopez is a better defender overall, especially with help defense - where his shot blocking is worlds ahead of Diaw's stand-there-and-watch strategy. I think they're banking on giving Robin Lopez more minutes, since he's barely played so far, that would make sense to me. Although the bench post offense takes a hit by not having Diaw. We'll see how it pans out.

Nash
Jrich
Hill
Amare
Shaq

Barnes
Barbosa
Lopez
Singletary
Dragic
Amundson
Tucker

Looks alright. Still, from a sentimental perspective it's sad to see Raja leave. He had fire in him, and he was good friends with Nash. Good luck with the Bobcats, Raja.

got traded too

JRich is actually a good defender, but he seemed to basically give up on that role recently.

MJ had a guilt trip when Steve called him and said, "Hey, I gotta way for us to get outta this mess. Mike you send me J-Rich, I'll send you Boris and you know D'Antoni's wanting him so you send him Boris and he'll send you Curry! Huh...you like that, Mike....remember I coulda pressed charges on you!"

Boris Diaw to the Knicks for Eddy Curry next move for Charlotte. Watch, Curry's knee will "magically" heel very soon.

I think the Knicks are intent on dumping Curry's salary for something that expirers before 2010.

You may be right but they'll have to have some players on the roster and Diaw isn't a bad facillitator on offense and would be a decent piece to have on a roster intent to be built around King James/Wade/Bosh (if they get any of them) in 2010. D'Antoni really likes Diaw and considering Boris' comments about him after the trade, I think it's coming soon.

Wow now another thing just hit me...

Colangelo likes Boris Diaw, too.

Boris to Toronto for Bargnani+Kapono

Either way Boris is being traded for a big so either it's gonna be Curry or Bargs going to Charlotte.

Charlotte just has to figure out a way to dump Carroll now. They shoulda included him in the J-Rich deal w/ PHX's Pick going to another team (3 way).

On paper, this trade looks good. In practice, it's a hard hit for Nash emotionally. Let's hope he won't be down about it for long, and continues playing at a high level - because he's the engine that makes our current offensive system go.

Steve didn't really need to second think leaving Dirk, his then best friend. He'll be fine. Guy is a competitor.

Couple of things..
1) No way Knicks get rid of their newly found cap space for Diaw. D'Antoni doesn't have that kind of pull.
2) The suns have to get over putting Dragic out there and just let Barbosa and Hill initiate the offense when Nash rests.
3) This is a STEAL and i hope that Terry Porter ditches his motion offense 100% and just let's Nash run things.

Serious Question: Are the Suns going to run (Nash, J-Rich, Hill, Barbosa, Amare, etc) or play a half court/post up game (Shaq, Amare). What's going to be their TRUE identity. The halfcourt Suns or the Run n Gun Suns?

I think either way it helps their cause, cause if they play half court they can kick it out to him for the 3 or create his own shot. and obviously he can run for the easy 2 or spot up in the corner for the 3 like the suns of a year ago. I think they find out who they are, best case scenario after the all star break worst case after next years training camp. and whether or not Terry Porter is willing to allow them to really get up and run should that be their identity. Personally as a Suns fan I dont care how they play and who is on their team. I do really like Amar'e and Nash but I also really liked Chuck too. Just put together a team that can win and win it all. FYI Phx is the oldest team w/out a championship.
