Tennessee, presently ranked #8 nationally, #18 Vanderbilt, #22 Ole Miss and #25 Mississippi State will represent the SEC, while #16 Marquette, Louisville, Cincinnati and South Florida will represent the BIG EAST.
Prospects of Note SEC:
Tennessee: Tyler Smith SF, Bobby Mays PG, Wayne Chism PF, JP Prince G/F
Vanderbilt:Andrew Ogilvy F/C
Mississippi State:Jarvis Varnado F/C
Ole Miss: Chris Warren PG
Prospects of Note Big East:
Marquette: Jerel McNeal G, Dominic James PG
S.Fla: Dominique Jones PG
Louisville: Earl Clark SF, Terrence Williams SG, Samardo Samuels and pretty much the rest of the roster.
Tyler Smith is directly responsible for 34% of Tennesee's FGs. Which is a huge impact for a wing player.
Jerel McNeal is responsible for 37.6% of Marquette's buckets. Dominick James has a 34% share.
Louisville is more egalitarian, with Earl Clark having the higest FG creation% on the team, with only 27.8%.
Tyler Smith got shut down by the guy with the slowest feet in the NCAA, Sergio Olmos. Couldn't believe it. 6-16, with 2 of those buckets coming after the game was already decided.
Bobby Maze is good. Puts a lot of pressure on the opposing pg defensively. And Marquette's going to get up and down the floor with the steals they create. Wesley Mathews is another guy on that team. Averaging 19.6 ppg.
Just read the new blog entry and started crunching this stat out of curiosity. FG + Assists/TeamFG. I hadn't thought about this stat in years. It was the first stat that my uncle tought me to tabulate.
They moved this thread to the nba draft forum. It's officially dead.
Tyler Smith, Samardo Samuels, Earl Clark, Terrence Williams, Andrew Ogilvy etc. will be the new victims of ISH during the summer of '09 when posters try to judge them on youtube highlights only and declare them as "beasts" or "busts".
