well houston has had an open spot all this time so its not like they needed it. im guessing they are looking to sign another player (have no idea what position), and continue a Deke return.

Yea, but I thought it was going over the luxury tax that was stopping Houston from signing another player? With Stevie and his $2-$3 million gone with nothing in return, they can sign a couple of cheap players now.

For all he's done for the City (more importantly off the court), they could have handled this better. On Christmas Eve too?!? Damn. That is messed up. Couldn't even wait until after the holidays.
scrugged - get screwed on x-mas eve = how fitting.

Thank you morey. this move rids us of 3 million $ meaning that we can offer moutombo more money then both spurs and the celtics can. moutombo saying he'll be somwhere else has made the rockets wakeup from there slumber.expect dikimbe to be a rocket within a day or two

Haha, thats so ironic. I hope that scrub sits on the bench for the rest of his career for what he did to Vancouver.

They are doing this because they get back their 2nd round pick and an expiring contract, and the Rockets have more leeway under the cap to sign somebody like Dikembe.

I dont see him getting much opportunity. Mayo is a lock for the shooting guard spot, and Lowry and Conley have played well. I see no reason for Francis to get significant minutes in Memphis.

Memphis gets a second round pick this upcoming year (they get back one they gave before) and they don't have to pay for Francis's salary.

The Rockets save on luxury tax by sending Francis to Memphis.

dont think he was rejecting the grizzlies as much as rejecting vancouver in general. doubt the fans in memphis even care. the whole thing didn't happen to them.

I agree, kind of messed up to have it happen on XMas eve. Could've waited. Even if some deal was made, could've waited to release the info to the Press and to Steve.

Why do people keep mentioning "they're getting Steve Francis' expiring contract" as if the Memphis Grizzlies actually traded a player w/ more years left on their contract to acquire Stevie "Franchise"

2011 conditional 2nd Rd Pick is what they got him for so they've essentially added salary which was probably the loot they "saved" by buying out "Shimmy" Walker.
