Default Yao Ming or Shaquille O'Neal?

Ignoring the visible factor of the salary cap, would you trade Yao for Shaq?

I don't know. It was a huge jam in the NBA forum, when most were in favour of Shaq. I too disagreed still.

One thing that Shaq could probably do though is over-power Yao. It's like 320 to 280 pounds... Other than that, Yao beats Shaq on most fronts.

"The Sacramento Kings, more like the Sacramento Queens."
- Shaq

I think if Yao had not had the injuries, this would be far from the popular opinion nowadays. He was every bit as unguardable as shaq one-on-one, and probably better defensively.

And obviously Shaq is only going to get worse while Yao may get even better.

At this point in their careers, you have to be joking to ask this question.

i'll take yao over shaq right now. shaq is declining and yao is only getting better.
i expect yao and the rockets to have a great season next yr. 50+ wins, yao 20-10, tmac 25-5-5.
