Soloman had just come into the game, he was cold. Any shot he took would have had a very big measure of luck involved. Ukic, if he could not get the ball to Bosh might have driven, maybe drawn a foul and stopped the clock.

What would have been the best move? I'm not sure, but it wasn't a slam dunk to put Soloman in and risk a bad shot after a miserly attempt to feed Bosh.

What's sad is that Solomon is considered a "shooter" when he has a 35% career FG%. Ukic obviously isn't much better but at least he's proven that he can make a clutch shot. Also, Ukic drives the lane usually and does not settle for jumpers like Solomon. Furthermore, Ukic is a better distributor, has a better basketball IQ and uses his length and size to play better D than Solomon ever will. C'mon guys use some common sense. Solomon is NOT a shooter and should not be on the floor for more than 10-15 mpg while Jose is out. Give the majority of the minutes to Ukic, especially in crunch time.

His career FG% doesn't matter. What matters is he's been shooting above 40% for us and Ukic has been shooting below 40%. Sure he made one "shot" against Orlando, but statisically, he's not the superior shooter. Teams can easily just double up on Bosh either before he gets the ball or after, and ideally he kicks it out to the open shooter (usually Calderon) but in this case it would have to be either Ukic or Solomon, and given that choice, i'm going with the higher percentage shooter. Just like when people complained about Kapono missing those late game shots and saying Moon should've been taking those 3's instead since he had a hot hand.

Some guys have such a short term view.

Let's face it. The Raptors are not a contender this year unless they can consistently play like they did against the Rockets and Magic. I don't understand why people would want Solomon to play over Ukic. Ukic has more potential (sorry I know some of you guys hate that word) in the long-term. I rather see him get more time to develop. I do understand coaches want to give themselves the best chance to win now and also balance that with developing a player. Maybe Solomon gives them a better chance to win in certain situations.

But the fact is Ukic has way more upside. Solomon is gone after this season.

I'd rather have a guy that makes his teammates better. You could compare these two to the season Calderon and James played together. Calderon made Charlie V and Bosh look alot better than James did.

I was at the Rockets game the other night. Solomon is pushing the ball up court and Kapano is running the wing to set up for his signature fast break 3 point shot. Kapano is right there with Solomon and Solomon dribbles in and takes a shot and misses. Kapano would have been wide open. How many times has a 3pt shot on the break from Kapano fired the crowd and team up? Always does. Not to say overall Solomon did not have a good game but this is one example where he is to more likely to look for his own shot than pass it and make a better decision.
