Well JJ wanted out of PHX because he wanted to be the #1 option, but we had Amar'e who was the #1 option. Suns management had to decide who would be the better #1. So they did the deal to let JJ go. Whether or not we let him go that year he would have left the following year and we'd have nothing.
With the QRich trade they were trying to shore up rebouding with Kurt Thomas and I think he was making less than both QRich and what Nate Robinson would have made.
