Default Why do the Rockets always manage to choke?

Man, they might not even make the playoffs this season

At the pace they are at now they won't even make the playoffs.

I remember them being named the favorites by some in the beginning of the seaosn.

They are underachieving. I thought they wouldn't even make it out of the first round, guess I overestimated them

Every year they raise expectations because of how great they look on paper. Every year they get bitten by injuries and fade into pretender status, or out of the playoffs altogether. Yao is soft and made of glass, Mcgrady is also made out of glass and is steadily declining, Artest seemed like a possible bright spot but has shot poorly and has also run into injuries.

I expect they will still manage to sneak into the playoffs at the 7 or 8 seed, but they aren't even top 3 in their division. ESPN "experts" will never learn.

its not looking good. were 3rd in the league in different starting lineups this season. battier is out for a while. t-mac and artest are constantly playing and resting because of their injuries... yao has been struggling as of late. Aaron Brooks has been struggling. I have a feeling that Rick Adelman has no idea what lineups to put out... there is definitely an inconsistency with the Rockets and they are not looking good.

Im still optimistic. I think with a healthy battier and artest, houston can still easily make the playoffs. t-mac is the wild card, we really dont know how good he still is and how healthy he can get. injuries cause the inconsistency and rockets do not have chemistry sometimes evident on defense and offense.

We sucked worse than this in the same time last season, and we still made the playoffs in the "toughest Western conference of all time". If there's going to be any "choking" done, its in the playoffs. Until then, I'd save my doom and gloom for the Clutchfans crowd.

Why does an "injured" McGrady play 42+ minutes ?

that's because Adelman is a fool...

how hard can it be??!

Starting 5 for now:
PG: Brooks
SG: T-MAC
SF: Artest
PF: Scola
C: Yao

start 80% of the offense from Yao.
Let Scola do the high pick&roll instead of Yao.
Keep Yao at the low post.
Brooks penetrate the lane more.
make Artest a spot up shooter.
T-Mac... same as Artest, but let him do his thing when it's a broken play

Bench:
Landry comes off the bench first.(when battier return, he be the sixth-man)
then Alston, to provide some veteran decision making on offense.
then Barry/Wafer can come on the floor for a couple mins.

line-up:
PG: Alston
SG: Barry/Wafer
SF: Artest
PF: Scola
C: Landry
with this small line-up, you have rebounding from scola and landry
you can run the floor, u have shooters, u have post player in Scola.

when u need more defense and Yao need rest, why dun you put Mutombo inthere!?

PG: Brooks/Alston
SG: Wafer
SF: Artest
PF: Scola/Landry
C: Mutombo

although the line-up should be decided on different match-ups, but Houston has all the players you need! how hard can it be?!

Because Adelman has to work with an inconsistent line-up. It's not his fault that everyone is injured. There is a different line-up every game. You really can't blame Adelman. We will see the TRUE Rockets in February and March and in the playoffs.

Yao needs to step up. Take some fools behind the woodshed and kick some ass. Until this team has a solid leader they will struggle.

As far the playoffs who knows right now. I know there are some happy Portland fans though.

they choke b/c of a lack of leadership.

I get the feeling Tmac needs to take a season off or something. It's impractical, but he seems tired of basketball. He can get his knee/back treated too, if they really need it.

Yao should take boxing or wrestling lessons. Or move to the ghetto. When he comes back he'll be a beast.
