These trades for cash, and then cutting the players doesn't sound legit to me.

Is this going to be some new trend in creating cap space or what?

Shaun Livingston used to be one of the best PG in the NBA...it's like teams are making a joke out of him now.

Luxury Tax saving move. Better than outright realeasing him. Good job Riles. Now we got a spot for Zo, and the Heat won't be tax paxers in the off-season.

Well Grizzlies do have long claws so it's normal for the mother Grizzly to 'cut' somebody's gut.

Miami wanted to save against the luxury tax - in case they make a trade down the line - so they send Livingston and money to cover his salary.

Memphis doesn't have to pay for Livingston or maybe a small portion and they get a 2nd round pick in return.

Good deal for both teams.

Aren't pick based on lottery? If so, it doesn't guaranteed anything on 2nd round

Man am I slow. I just realized since he was released before the deadline... basically all Memphis did was sell the Heat a conditional 2nd rnd pick. Shaun was just a pawn. Poor, poor Livingstick.
