Default Augustus Gilchrist

Anyone else seen this guy play for USF?

I've seen a few of his games and have been really impressed by his skill set and athleticism for his size. Here's the rundown:

- 6'10 and 235 freshman (one year older because he transferred after committing to Maryland) with a great frame who could probably get up around 260-270 without losing too much mobility.
- A very good pure shooter with smooth jumper.
- Athletic and finishes well inside
- Has solid lateral quickness and can guard the pick and roll decently
- Not the best defender yet but shows promise and comes up with some nasty blocks
- Has a tendency to disappear mentally during stretches of the game.

I think he's got all the makings of a good NBA player.

I've been a casual fan of USF for years and I can't say I have seen him as an NBA player so far, but I can see where you are coming from. He has the tools to be an NBA player, but like so many before him, he just needs to put everything together and become a productive player.

Well he has the size, coordination, athleticism and offensive skills to be an NBA PF or even F/C. But he has a long way and at least 3 years of college ball to go.

He needs to work on his conditioning, intensity, back-to-the-basket offense and basketball IQ. A few years playing in the Big East will either harden him or break him, he could turn pro if he improves the areas I mentioned.

You can't teach 6'10 with a good frame and coordination. But it's up to him towant it and put it all together. And he's already wasted a year, he should have just went to Virginia Tech.
