As opposed to blowing us a kiss getting on the plane.
I always pictured myself being really happy on this day regardless of who won. I just wanted Bush out. But here I am sitting here and thinking what's the point? We're f'd regardless. Here's hoping that Obama can fix this mess but I'm doubting it.
Re: Bush might as well have just given us the finger.
Yeah, i'm happy for Obama too but at the same time I often think to myself "wow, what a task he has to take on." It's like Bush took a glass vase and shattered it into a million pieces and now Obama has to think of the best way to go about putting it back together. Regardless, he's the right man for the job if anyone, and I wish him the best of luck.

Woke up? 45% of the country wanted to continue on the same path we were on. We were one Obama scadal away from a McCain presidency. America didn't wake up.......
Americans chose the right person for the job by accident.

I'm tired of the partisan nature of American politics. All Republicans are not the same. I'm not a big fan of McCain, but to pretend he would be Bush 2.0, when in the history of our country only a handful of presidents have ever been as bad as he has been, is dumb.

True. The republican party is gonna have to re-make itself in the next 4 years if it wants to be relevant. There are certainly progressives within the party, but a lot of fanatics too.

problem is he is so old he would have keeled over before his term was up and we would have Palin who WOULD be just like Bush. i really didnt have any big beef with him until he picked that vacuous gasbag as his running mate in a pathetic attempt to kiss the asses of the Christian right and pissed Hillary voters.
Re: Bush might as well have just given us the finger.
Republican Party needs to return to actual conservatism before it becomes relevant again, in my opinion. Might've been a nice race with a circa 2000 John McCain and an actual VP candidate.
Re: Bush might as well have just given us the finger.
lets be honest, McCain was an idiot. He couldn't run a good campaign so how does that make him look presidential? He made some very bad decisions and one of them was not defending himself against being labeled as a Bush and chosing Pallin as his VP.
You need to run a perfect campaign and need to show people that you are Presidential. Obama did that and McCain didn't.

yep. It needs to let go of the christian fundamentalism it is following and become conservatives instead. Right now, they are the 'Christian God's party'.

I honestly never see that happening. Fundamentalism opens the door to so many wedge issues and is just such a large chunk of the population no one is just going to stop pandering to it (that goes for each side). I agree that they need to actually start doing what their brand has been based upon though. It would have been pretty damn nutty to see a Republican ticket with Ron Paul on it.
Re: Bush might as well have just given us the finger.
In a way, it's sad. I don't have anyone to laugh at now. Obama is actually a smart dude and an excellent speaker. Unless he's clumbsy that I don't know about, what can I laugh at?
