It's on a descending scale:

2009 - top 14 (lottery protected)
2010 - top 12
2011 - top 10
2012 - top 8
2013 - top 3
2014 - unprotected

Since this is considered such a weak draft (I don't follow college...so I dunno) then I'd REALLY like to give it up this year.

On topic...unless May can miraculously get to playing shape and really show us something I would tender him an offer for the league minimum this offseason. Of course some team will probably trump that due to the flashes he has shown and May will probably leave to chase that extra money. He should show some loyalty to the team that paid him to basically ride the bench for 4 years...but I doubt it.

Either way I wouldn't lose a lick of sleep over it.

"Like it's that easy to lose weight. Just like that. Hell, I was on NutriSystem for five weeks and didn't lose an ounce. Spent three weeks traipsing around Europe walking miles each day and didn't lose a pound. What's your secret, LP. Do you have a special relationship with God or something that makes weight loss so easy? What am I missing........ "

First off, sorry if you got offended. Second of all sorry that you are over-weight, assuming thats the case. Third and finally Im guessing you arent a professional athlete. Im getting tired of hearing Sean May complain about not getting to play when hes been too heavy to play effectively, and for someone who probably has access to a world class training facility with some of the best physical trainers or has already gotten advice from the best dieticians known to man I would expect he should have already gotten to that mark.

There is no excuse for an athlete getting paid millions to be overweight for one moment at anytime during the offseason or regular season, let alone during the first half of an entire season. Inexcuseable.

Your dead on with that statement. Only only excuse is if they don't really care. I think May falls into that realm. Same with Eddy Curry, Big Baby, Barkley. I'm sure there a lot other that are the same. At least they wait until they get that big contract first. May is the stupid one that did it first. No one in their right mind will give him a long term contract.

I'll give you the fact you don't follow college, and neither does whoever told you it will be a weak draft.

Four of UNC's starters (Lawson, Ellington, Green, Hansbrough) will probably go in the first round. Then you've got Blake Griffin in Oklahoma, possibly Stephen Curry, possibly Jeff Teague and Aminu from Wake, Harden from Arizona State, Brandon Jennings who was self proclaimed too good for college and is now playing overseas.

I could go on and on.

Well, we have to give the pick up eventually, and by weak I meant no all stars like Rose or Beasley (least that's what I'm hearing). If we lose it this year it will definitely not be a lotto pick...and with our draft history a 15th or 16th selection doesn't have great odds of panning out.

The report says Higgins won't make a "qualifying offer", but may re-sign him cheaply.

Does anyone know May's current weight?

Heard from a guy I know at UNC that he was playin pick up with a group of current/former players. Sounds like he looked pretty good. Maybe it's something about Chapel Hill or the Dean Dome or maybe, just maybe, his knee is slowly recovering.

Hopefully he'll stick around UNC and get his weight down and agree to a very small contact.
