Default Mayo will be a star

You can just tell from his work ethic and attitude that he's going to be great. The guy shows up early, leaves late, works on his defense, and genuinely wants to be the best in the game.

Plus he tried to fight Darko. That makes him a star already in my book.

I see flashes of his determination and will but I also see flashes of laziness and lack of heart. Hopefully the kid will be a star.

I have serious doubts about his attitude, and I will be more than happy if he proves me wrong.

For some reason, Mayo reminds me of Marbury (and it's not about their game style). Actually, it would be great if Mayo could produce numbers as those of Marbury when he was good, and be less problematic.

The problem is he would be better served playing PG, and will instead be put at SG, where he is undersized. Oh, and he's on the ****ing Grizzlies, so his life is going to be nothing but losing for at least a few years.

Wow, that was disgusting. I think I've read better articles in my community college newspaper.

He's 6'4. There are plenty of similar or shorter height starting SGs in the league. A sorry team is the best place for an up and coming rookie. You have nothing to lose by starting and playing them. The coach doesn't even have to worry about working him into the rotation.

For one thing, there aren`t many starting SG`s who are 6`4 or shorter, and certainly very few of those guys are as skinny as Orange Juice Mayonaisse.

OK, so for 6`4 and under starting (or starting calibre) SGs we`ve got:

- 6`4 Rashad McCants (who won`t be starting this year with the arrival of 6`8 Mike Miller)

- 6`3 (if that) Ben Gordon (defensive liability due to height, replaced by 6`5 Larry Hughes in starting lineup)

- 6`3 Monta Ellis (now at PG, assuming he recovers from his moped injury)

- 6`4 Dwyane Wade (or is he 6`5? Either way, he plays bigger)

- 6`4 Cuttino Mobley (may not even start with the arrival of 6`7 Ricky Davis. I don`t know **** about the Clippers)

- 6`2 Jason Terry (usually acts as a 6th man from what I`ve seen, behind 6`6 Jerry Stackhouse)

- 5`11/6`0 Allen Iverson (one of a kind, and ideally would be able to play point)

That`s all I can think of. And only three of those guys are going to be starting at SG this season, and only AI is as thin as Mayo. So OJ is going to be significantly outsized every night.

Most NBA starting SGs are 6`6-6`7.

When has height really mattered though? There have been tons of successful undersized players. I have never seen any one of the "undersized" players you named ever struggle to score over a bigger defender. Height won't matter. Mayo is going to be a star.
