I'm in London, so I watched the game on BBC, they don't show commercials on BBC so everytime the broadcast cut away into commercial breaks in America instead it showed some British guy and two former American players analysing the game-cool idea only problem is YOU MISS THE SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS.
Last year, I thought they sucked to be honest. But this year? any standouts or genius commercials? Any epic clunkers?
Re: Were the superbowl commercials good this year?
Most of them sucked. They've been getting consistently worse each year. It used to be you didn't want to leave the room during the commercials because they were either funny as sh*t or just plain innovative, but I can honestly say if I'd watched none of them this year I would've missed nothing.
I think my biggest complaint is there were so many commercials that weren't even new commercials.
Re: Were the superbowl commercials good this year?
Yeah, they were terrible. I had forgotten that the superbowl commercials were supposed to be funny/new/spectacular until about the 4th quarter. The punching koala one did make me laugh a little (though i have no idea what it was for) and the PebSuber was alright (esp if you saw the SNL the night before), but they were all terrible. really terrible. You paid 3 mil to air that ****? Really?
Re: Were the superbowl commercials good this year?
Some i laughed at:
* Pepsuber
* When the flower said "nobody wants to see you naked!"
* Cash4Gold i didn't laugh at because i was so busy tryin to figure out if it was real or not
* Conan's was kinda funny
A lot of superbowl commercials nowadays seem too forced I guess
Re: Were the superbowl commercials good this year?
I don't really claim to know what goes into the making of these commercials, but I'd imagine the people that generate these ideas are the ones who are the most out of touch with what Americans like and find funny. They probably go off of some sort of "market research" or maybe they just wing it. The head honchos at budweiser, pepsi etc I'm assuming make good money, so therefore, they aren't "normal" everyday people. What would they know what constitutes funny and unfunny?

they're like those people that think "hey a dog in sunglasses, thats funny right?", "lets make these old white people say 'for shizzle', that kind of stuff ALWAYS makes me laugh". You're right they're completely out of touch.

lol, you must have seen the chump presenter call rod woodson Ron
and mike carlson isnt exactly a nfl legend, and he hates the raiders cause he got cut by them, so no matter whose playing he brings up an excuse to have a moan about them
Re: Were the superbowl commercials good this year?
You know, I've always wondered about that Cash4Gold thing. For some reason, "send us all your gold and we'll send you money" just doesn't seem legit to me.
