The Toronto Raptors absolutely should run & gun (as has been said they CANNOT be a defensive team with their makeup) and I look forward to the exiting basketball that will result.

To the those that say Phoenix tried it and it failed so no one should, I'd kindly remind them that our team has never had more than 47 wins and only made it out of the first round of the playoffs ONCE. It's ridiculously arrogant to imply that we are suddenly above 2-3 years of 60'ish win seasons filled with exciting basketball and at least coming close to the NBA finals, certainly were it not for the San Antonio Horry fiasco a while back.

I'd happily become Phoenix North as was promised to start off the Colangelo era...

Phoenix North is great.
Nash is old, Calderon slow.
Should have kept T.J.

What should have kept TJ?

we should have drafted Brandon Roy
We shouldn't have traded Marcus Camby
We should have drafted Shawn Marion instead of Alex redoivich(I don't know how to spell his name)
We should have drafted Kobe Bryant instead of Camby
We should have Benched vince and held out for a much better deal for him
We should have thrown rediculouse money at T-Mac before he left for Orlando!
We should have resigned Billups
We should have kept Roger Mason on our bench
this list can go on and on

But if we did all the above

Our fantasy line up would be rediculouse

Billups
VC
Kobe
T-Mac
Marion

& yes I would start Marion at the 5 and T-Mac at the 4

LOL

But this is the past and no matter what you can think about it but you must move on because you can not change the past!

It was just a short haiku describing how if this team wanted to play the 'run and gun' style and re-create the Phoenix Suns up north, it would have been better if we had kept TJ. Like I said Nash will be too old and Calderon is too slow. Obviously the franchise made a lot of mistakes and missed opportunities since the inaugural season but common, that is almost a 15 year span.

A healthy Calderon is pretty fast it is very apparent that when Jose plays with an injury it really really slows him down.
But atleast he tries to play through the injuries...cause a healthy Jose is a top 5 point guard in this league!

Also a fast point guard doesn't mean your going to be able to run and gun...Nash his whole career has never been a fast player...its more to do with decision making and court vision.

Jose is definately more like Nash than TJ is: unselfish, excellent passer, great shot, crappy defender (not so much a plus) and did I mention unselfish??? As has been said, Nash is nowhere near the fastest pg in the game, and besides anyone would be slow on a bum hamstring which Jose has been hobbled by the whole year. So long as Jose stays off the olympic team as nash has done, he's more than adequate to push the ball up the court for us.

you can't run the run and gun offense with a pg ike TJ. He isn't a pass first pg that moves the ball around. Yes jose is slow and a very safe pg, but he is a pass first pg that has very good court vision. TJ just goes in teh lane and then passes it out.
