We welcome Tyson back with open arms," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said in a statement. "We went into this trade to garner more frontcourt depth to add to our team as we continue our push towards the playoffs. We expect Tyson and the rest of our big guys to step up to the challenge."
Hornets still need more depth on the frontline, but whatever move they make, they need another legit center.
Totally right. Ely, Armstrong and Marks arent going to cut it against the Spurs, and Lakers. Dont really have any tradeable pieces though maybe Mo Pete. Nobody wants his contract though. Cant get rid of Posey.
Why didn't the Thunder simply waive the medical? It's freaking turf toe, it's not like they can't wait a couple of weeks for him to recover.
That's what I was thinking. It's clear they aren't going anywhere this season, so it should be meaningless. The deal is for the next few years, so I don't know why they didn't go through with it unless they changed their minds and this gave them a way out.
If the Hornets really want to dump salary, why not move Peja or Posey to an Eastern team for an expirer or two. Maybe give Mo Pete back to his rightful team?
Stupid to get rid of an entertaining player like Chandler. Even though he's a bit overrated and way underskilled, he rebounds and defends well, and the Hornets just wouldn't be the same without Paul lobs Chandler.
Unfortunately, this deal probably is not going to be killed by something as silly as "turf toe", whatever the **** that is.
This will be a great move for the Thunder, finally they have a good center so they can dump busts like Sene and Swift (or did he get healthy?), and lazy morons like Wilcox. Add in one of the big time PFs in the upcoming draft (Griffin, Monroe or Hill) beside Chandler, with Durant as the franchise scoring SF (after seeing him a little more, could be a taller prime T-Mac, maybe better), develop good younguns like Green, Westbrook, and maybe White and Swift, sign some good veterans to fill the gaps.
Getting a legit center, even if he's overrated and has a low basketball IQ, could really make things fall into place for the Thunder.
