Default Which Current Blazers are Likely to have their Jerseys Retired Here?

The title says it all.

I think Roy will for sure. He helped revitalize Blazer-mania and is sure to be on the team for years to come.

Aldridge and Oden both have a chance. Aldridge will be if he stays on the team 5+ more years. Oden will have to get healthy and improve all while staying here for a while.

Other players on the team have a chance only if we win a championship (or at least make it to a couple Finals). Przybilla for example. Przy has already been on the team for 5 years. If he were to stick around another 3-5 years AND we win a title, I could easily see him getting his jersey retired. He has showed great leadership, loyalty, and has been the anchor on defense for some time now.

Roy... no explanation needed.

Aldridge definitely. I think Oden has a shot just because of all the hype, but I don't see him doing better than Roy/Aldridge.

My sleeper is Rudy, fans love him... and he will get better (plus he already has his spot in our offense).

joel has been a workhorse. a great vet example and anchor to our team.

roy aldridge oden obviously if they stick around long enough

i think frye could be... obviously he'll need to play more consistantly
but he's a fan favorite and self proclaimed portland guy.

I really don't see Frye being retired for 2 major reasons. 1. He isn't very good. He lost his spot in the rotation this year, and the only reason he is currently playing is because of Oden's injury. You just don't retire jerseys of guys who are borderline reserve/bench warmer. 2. Because he isn't very good, I don't see him on this team for very long. I'd be a little surprised if we re-signed him this summer, and extremely surprised if he is on the team in 3 years. Overal, that would be like 5 year stay for a scrub, which I do not see as even remotely close to being deserving of having a retired jersey.

i agree... and personally i like frye... i think he has shown flashes of being great... certainly last year when he got more playing time... and last night against san antonio he hit his rythym... consistency is his biggest issue.

now i do have my doubts he'll be on the team next season. but the thread is totally hypothetical in that anyone would have to be here long term to be in consideration.

I'll go with Roy and Aldridge....maybe Rudy.

Pryz and Blake have an outside chance if they stay for any length of time and fill / accept backup / limited roles.

Does anyone have a link to a list of players who have already had their numbers retired???

http://www.insidehoops.com/nba-retired-numbers.shtml

Though it is not up to date because it is missing Terry Porter and Bob Gross's #30s.

Brandon Roy and Joel Przybilla. Everybody else has an outside chance. Gross' number was only retired because Porter's 30 was getting retired. Gross was not that great of a player.

I heard they were going to raise Raef LaFrentz's contract next to Porter's jersey this offseason.

The Blazers have a history of retiring numbers for the sake of a celebration rather than merit. So, in Portland it's possible for any player to have their number retired if someone in power wants to have a party.

To answer the question based on merit, Brandon Roy is the only player on this team that has demonstrated qualities that if sustained for a long period could deserve the honor.
