Of course some people like curling, between 1.5 and 2 million people play the game on a regular basis around the world. I know those numbers aren't high compared to something like soccer, but for a game that requires ice surfaces, that's pretty good.

A lot of people who don't like curling just never really gave it the time of day. They just see a bunch of guys or women sliding those rocks and yelling and sweeping.

I used to hate curling, but I think it was during the 2002 Winter Olympics I actually sat down and learned the rules. It's a pretty interesting game.. but I was still pissed to see it on TSN the other night when the Raptors were scheduled to be on.

My family is from Croatia so I know a lot of the Croatian community in Sudbury (Where I'm from). Surprisingly there is a Croatian community in this small city.

Ok, it's from the Briar, but to those who didn't see it (and care), witness one of the best curling shots you'll ever see. Ontario (red) down 2 and this is the last shot of the game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kE5QzOprns

The angles and skill required on this shot are ridiculous.

That's pretty crazy. But the sport is still boring. How often does a shot like that happen?

While I can appreciate the skill involved in the shot, if that's as exciting a shot as has ever happened in curling then you just proved why people are pissed to have other sports (and more importantly to me Around the Horn and PTI) taken off the air for something that is only once in a generation mildly entertaining. I can understand that some people here play curling and love it, but as a golf enthusiast I can tell you that enjoying playing a sport does not mean that it is exciting to watch on TV. Unless of course Tiger wins a tournament on a broken leg. That's pretty sweet...
