Wish people would just answer like starface's post. A couple people like his songs and everyone flips out-Can't even compliment a new rapper anymore without someone calling him overated.
I don't think I ever read an argument being made that Drake is the best, or top whatever, everyone just likes some of his songs and dudes can't take that in.
Why are you being so defensive lol? I listened to some of his stuff after people kept hyping him up as the next big thing in hip hop. I gave it a fair, unbiased, listen. It was okay to me, I just didn't think it lived up to the hype. I also thought that if he wasn't affilliated with Wayne, he wouldn't get nearly as much buzz as he's getting now. That's why I think he's overrated. If you like him, then cool, but no need to go crazy if someone else doesn't feel him as much as you do.
people can't handle DOOM's creativity. the only rapper that was remotely like him stylistically was ghostface during his 'supreme clientele' era. DOOM has forged a unique style/flow and production technique. because of this idiosyncratic approach he has generated a cult fanbase. his output is also consistently excellent.
on the other hand, drake has released a mixtape that sounds like charles hamilton (minus the freestyle skillz) rapping through autotune, i.e. hot garbage. yet the hype machine is cranking at full capacity.
p.s. wayne only became overrated when people claimed/claim that he was/is the best rapper in the world. sh*t, cory gunz killed 'a milli' better than him.

Playtetris made a thread that had nothing to do with Drake, posted a link to an album that wasn't by Drake, yet the majority of the posters in that thread talked about Drake. I thought that was annoying since it went against the original intent of his thread. Playtetris gives you a taste of your own medicine in this thread and you get mad.
Then, I make another thread and make a small reference to my belief that Drake is a bit overrated. This isn't just based on ish, its based on another hip hop forum that I go to, people that I've actually talked too outside the internet, etc. Instead of confronting me head on in that thread, you try to go at me subliminally with this one lol. Instead of just making a "Drake Appreciation thread" or something like that, you go on a rant that's clearly targeted at me, then get mad when I decide to defend myself lol. And of course since my explanation for my beliefs wasn't to your liking you go on your typical "well you're a hater/backpacker" bullshyt.
Jada is one of the most overrated rappers ever. He's regarded as being one of the best for no reason at all. I have all of his cds, and they're nothing special. Boring if you ask me. Got some good songs but that's it.
