Next year, I hope to go to Reds spring training. I absolutely love this time of year. That's really the best opportunity to mingle with players and get autographs and what not.

The worst part of it all is seeing those garish uniforms and hats

This is one of the really good times to live in Florida.

I plan on going to one Spring Training game for Nats, Astros, Braves, and Tigers.

A-Rod homers today and receives standing ovation from Yankees fans.

The "outrage" always seems to fade in sports with one swing of the bat, completed TD pass, made 3-point shot, etc

There wasn't much to take out of this one, other than right fielder Geoff Jenkins predicted afterward that Jamie Moyer would pitch until he was 110.

The veteran lefthander started the Grapefruit League opener and threw two scoreless innings, though results are completely meaningless at this point. Moyer threw mostly fastballs, working on his command.

Another notable: Raul Ibanez had his first spring training RBI as a Phillie, driving in Jimmy Rollins in the third inning.

Joe Blanton gave up a run on two hits in his inning of work. Joe Bisenius gave up four earned runs and Scott Nestor followed by giving up three earned runs.

South Philly product Mike Koplove pitched a scoreless eighth with two strikeouts.

John Mayberry drove in the Phillies' other run.

7 runs given up by 2 guys I've never heard of

Luis Castillo went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs to lead the New York Mets past the Baltimore Orioles, 9-3, in a Spring Training opener for both clubs.
Ahead 3-2, New York scored four runs in the fourth inning to essentially seal the victory. Pedro Feliciano pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, to pick up the win for the Mets.
Ryan Freel went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run to pace the Orioles. Brad Hennessey took the loss for Baltimore, allowing two earned runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings.
Hopefully this is a harbinger of things to come for the whoa Luis. The Mets need you back in full effect homie.

He was never really that good to begin with.

Looking like quite a baseball resurrection in the Bay after a few years of floundering. The Angels are weakened by age and free agency while the Athletics spun a one-pitch pitcher with history of arm trouble into Matt Holliday.

Across the bridge, the Giants have some of (if not) the best starting pitching in the nl. Factor in the ability to bring a player named Merkin out of the bullpen in late innings, and that's just too cool.

Expect to see both the A's and Giants playing after the first week in October. (Disclaimer: Author picked the ****ing Twins to handle the Royals securing a playoff spot last season)

For the Reds, Micah Owings pitched very well yesterday. There is a void at that no. 5 starter spot. He has good stuff, but can he stay healthy?

Jose Reyes may end up batting third which makes him an even more interesting fantasy player.

Quote:
Manuel opened camp by saying that Luis Castillo could replace Reyes in the leadoff spot, with the shortstop dropping to either second or third in the lineup. The manager put that plan into action yesterday in only the second game, and Reyes responded as if he were born for that role.
