Default Sam Jackson and Marvel Link Up for 9 Films

Quote:
By Borys Kit
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Samuel L. Jackson is Marvel's man.
The actor, who just weeks ago was seemingly on the outs with the studio over reprising his role as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D., in the "Iron Man" sequel, has signed an unprecedented nine-picture deal to play the character in a series of Marvel movies.
In addition to "Iron Man 2," scheduled for release next year, the movies include "Thor," "Captain America," "The Avengers" and its sequels. Also on the table is the possibility of starring in a "S.H.I.E.L.D." movie, which is in development.
Jackson made a surprise appearance as Fury at the end of the first "Iron Man," throwing geeks into a tizzy and showing the first glimpse of Marvel's plan to link all their slate of movies into one filmic universe.
Jackson and Fury were expected to be part of the sequel, but as Marvel negotiated with its cast, deals proved hard to come by. Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle. Mickey Rourke still doesn't have a deal for the part of a villain despite almost two months of negotiations.

I always pictured the new Nick Fury being played by Samuel L. Jackson.

I don't think Sam gives two sh*ts as to what films he in anymore. As long as he's getting paid it makes no difference as to how good or bad the movie is.

+1

Also, too bad they cut Howard, who IMO would have made a WAY better War Machine than Don.

im guessing the majority of parts in this 9 picture deal will be small cameos like in Iron Man or Downey Jr in The Hulk.

Ultimate Marvel's Nick Fury was designed to look like Jackson with an eye-patch, they had to sign him.

On a related note, I don't know if I like the idea of a "Thor" movie. It has potential, but they had a hard time making a good Hulk film. And although I'm probably in the minority, I thought the "Superman Returns" film sucked. Superhero movies are better when the hero isn't so overwhelmingly super-powered. That's why Batman's films are the best films, provided it's not some cluster**** starring George Clooney.

You are not in the minority about Superman Returns sucking. The Superman massive damn near revolted when that film came out. DC has already decided to reboot the franchise.

superman is just a garbage hero, like hulk, I don't get why they keep making garbage movies about garbage characters that the movie watching public obviously doesn't care about? Thor? I don't know anything about comics, but um, wtf isn't thor a nordic god? God power heros are lame to watch, the coolest part of super hero movies-ok basically the only good super hero movies I remember are ironman and batman, are how normal guys outsmart and out tech against seemingly overwhelming odds and unwinnable situations, heros like Superman and hulk who just kick ass and kickass and always win and are unbeatable, that's just not fun to watch.
