This is actually good for the Cavs. Wallace is a liability, not an asset.

So where are all the people claiming that Stern did this so that there can be a C's Lakers repeat?

But seriously, this sucks for the Cavs

This could be a blessing in disguise. Even though this injury really really sucks, (i mean c'mon 15 mill a year for ben) Ben's production has been lacking as of late. Hickson will get a lot more minutes, and this will improve his chances of possibly being a help to us come playoff time. This was a major loss though.

Ben is looking at being in the cast/walking boot for the next 6 weeks. At the four week mark the way I'm understanding it. he is going to get it xrayed again to check the status of the recovery. At that point we'll have complete clarity as to whether we'll have him back during this playoff season or not. If the bone shows enough recovery, and he can get started rehabbing and strengtheing at an early enough date, he can get back and play during the mid playoffs is the hope.

Please Joe Smith, or any decent big man, get a buy out

ben was clearly the best post defender on that team. hickson is a much better scorer (obviously) but I dont think you can count on him or andy really filling the defensive void.

I agree with everything except for the major loss part.

The people in this thread are acting stupid. How is this going to be a major problem for the Cavaliers?

Whether you believe Wallace is completely overpaid, or you believe he still contributes for every minute he plays, the facts are, he only played 20 minutes a night.

Mike Brown never had him out there in the 4th quarter anyways, he runs with Varejao late in games. I don't agree with it, but that's what happens.

So Hickson and/or Jackson split Wallace's 20 minutes. How does that hurt the Cavs?

Wallace wasn't playing the majority game anyways, and this eliminates the Cavs problem of not being able to play Wallace and Anderson on the floor at the same time.

Now Hickson gets more minutes, providing some actual scoring down low that you guys keep whining about.

With Anderson and Wallace being basically interchangeable, I just see this as a positive because it gives Hickson more minutes.

Sucks for Wallace as a person, but as a team, he'll still be there providing pointers, and it could actually make us better on the floor.

Mathius

That is a good spin on the situation. Losing 20 minutes is still loosing 20 minutes. There was a reason he had them and not others (Hickson and company).

But, you're right, most people wrongly beleive losing a starter is just losing a starter. Starter loss - Bench fill in = Total loss

Utah losing Boozer wasn't as bad with Millsap filling in.
But, Utah losing Williams wasn't much better with Knight/Price filling in.

1. Who's gonna replace the 20/25 minutes Ben gave us ? Varejao will do ok in the starting lineup but then who comes off the bench ? JJ ? Sorry I don't trust him come playoff time.

2. This team's identity is defense and rebounding first and foremost. It's exactly what Ben does. He helped us set the tone defensively at the beggining of ballgames. Losing him does hurt. JJ can contribute but his defense is nowhere near Ben's.

3. Who's gonna defend KG/Gasol if we meet in the playoffs ? Varejao ? Hickson ? Wally ? Wow, I can't wait ...
