I remember a bunch of Rockets fans being disgruntled about trading Alston for Lowry a month or so ago. I told all you Rockets fans to chill and that Kyle is a very underrated player that showed flashes just never got consistent minutes.
I make it a point to keep up with Kyle and tune into as many games as possible. He's been very efficient and his greatest attributes don't show up on stat sheets (toughness, defense, energy, great team player).
What do Rockets fan thinks now?
I really believe that he can develop into a very good starting point guard.
For what it's worth.. I've seen several Rockets fans complain about Brooks and say that Lowry needs to be getting more minutes. Dunno how widespread that is, though.
lets take a look at the spurs-rockets game for example.. i think Lowry is more solid and consistant than Brooks... if given starter minutes Lowry is more consistent on defense, toughness, and being a floor general... i think with about 29min a game, Lowry can average 10-12ppg 6 maybe 7apg... but he hasn't played in big minutes so we don't really know if he can be consistent with big minutes...
on the other hand, brooks remains inconsistent, he hasn't shown alot of floor general leadership... he looks like he is better coming off the bench, BUT even with all that, he came in and hit a huge shot in the closing seconds of the spurs-rockets game...
i think Lowry is more consistent is has the upside of developing into a solid point guard, but Brooks has the potential to be something special (whether that be a starter or a 6th man)
Rockets fans usually don't know what they want. I was a big Lowry advocate and most of them shut me out. Apparently, outside of the big names, Skip was the best point guard there is.

We were not disgruntled but more surprised. We were expecting a trade but not skip for kyle. It was totally out of the blue and most of us havent seen him play..
Kyle is a great slasher and has good court vision. but his jumper isnt solid yet. He could be a great asset in the future. This trade was a steal in my eyes.
dumping salary + aging vet ----> promising PG in the Future.

I been lobbying for this since Lowry's second game. I was thrilled when we got rid of Rafer Alston. I remember I kept telling Rocket fans to chill and that it would work out.
Lowry is calm on the court. He runs the offense perfectly and is much better at setting up people than Brooks. He seems to be developing a good midrange game and hopefully one day he can extend his range to the three point line.
I loved this trade since the minute it was announced.

Seeing clutchfan, I bet its the majority.
RA will never start Lowry over Brooks this season. It might cause chemistry problems. Unless of course he's a risk taker.
Admittedly I just assumed someone riding pine in Memphis couldn't be all that good, just goes to show how lousy that franchise is. I've been pretty impressed with his play on both sides of the court.
I think a bit of Lowry not playing a lot in Memphis had to do with draft pick politics and conley being drafted so high.
Not really. When Kyle was still in Memphis, we still had Iavaroni. He wanted a slow type offense which revolved around pick and rolls and mismatches. Kyle showed that he could run that offense MUCH MUCH better than Conley did.
When Iavaroni got canned, Hollins unleashed COnley and he started playing like a top 5 pick and Lowry gradually lost his minutes. Also, Lowry got injured during his first games with Hollins and I guess that kinda also led to the trade.
If we don't get a discount FA with all that capspace then I am done with this franchise. Jaric as backup pg is
I'm big on Lowry. He's a better creator than Brooks. I wouldn't be surprised if Lowry ends up starting and Brooks comes off the bench as instant offense.

Do you play a game called Combat Arms? There's a guy in my clan with the same handle as you.
Lowry has surprised. But in reality, I never saw him play much before he came to H-Town. He's more of a PG than Brooks. Hell, Yao is more of a PG than Brooks.
