Memphis Grizzlies-3rd Worst Team In U.S. Professional Sports
Quote:
The Memphis Grizzlies ranked 120 out of the 122 best professional sports franchises in the U.S., according to a survey conducted by bizjournals.com that based the ranking on level of team success and money made by the organizations.
Only the Detroit Lions and New York Islanders, at 122 and 121, respectively, ranked lower.
The Grizzlies placed last among the NBA’s 30 teams. The Boston Celtics were the most successful organization in the NBA and all of professional sports for 2008, according to bizjournals.com. The Tennessee Titans ranked 17th on the list and 4th in the NFL.
The rankings were determined by wins and losses, average margin of victory or defeat, attendance numbers and playoff results for the calendar year of 2008, which for the NBA covered half of two seasons.
In 2008, the Grizzlies posted a win-loss record of 24-60 and averaged 12,674 fans per game, which totaled 69.3% of capacity of FedExForum where the Grizzlies play.
The only good thing I can get from this is that at least we arent worse than the Detroit Lions.
But I think the local fan support and our record will improve over the next 3 years depending on if Chris Wallace can bring in the right pieces and the ownership situation gets worked out so we can spend into the Luxury Tax.

The Miles signing was actually pretty good. He doesn't seem to be getting as much PT as of late, but when he first got here he was an energetic player.

I laugh a lot when I think back at how fans of this team wanted Pau traded. How thet said Rudy Gay was the new franchise player and Pau had to accept that.Pau Gasol singal handedly put the grizz in the playoffs 3 years in a row!! ok they didnt win a game in the playoffs, but **** man the grizz were awful, and to qualify for the playoffs in the West!!Since Pau has gone Gay has just been playing for himself.Mayo is similar to Gay.This type of players dont win championships, look at lakers when shaq left kobe on his own the lakers couldnt win a ring. with Pau the Lakers are a far stronger team.
Talking of Gasol, the only player in the griz this season who is consistent and playing at a high standard is Marc.

No offense to this thread. But who cares? I could care less about some random website's opinions. All I care about is how the team plays on the court and the fans loyalty.

It was in this same forum were people were gagging for Gasol to be traded, because he was soft etc etc ,the usual.Look at him now, helping the Lakers make a difference.

Maybe a few people, but I don't recall it. I for one was strongly against it, at the time. Now, it doesn't pain me as much, despite the terrible record, the Grizz have a lot of very talented players with lots of potential.
