Default Whiskey and Water?

My old boss would drink this when we would go out.

Just tried it and could not put it down without making that stank face. You got to be one tough SOB to be able to handle this.

Good whisky is lovely with a little splash of water to release the flavour

Ice is blasphemous

I downed a mickey of bourbon last night without a mix or chaser in about 20 minutes. That's basically casual drinking. One average drink every couple minutes or so.

You gotta man up sometimes when you're in a hurry.

Low end whiskey I may mix but the premium stuff I'll go neat or a cube of ice to take off the bite. Mixing it is disrespectful.

no. water is for those who recognize that the volatile components of whisky (or anything) are much more recognizable and tasty with a splash of water.

the best sipping whiskeys are meant to be bruised with just a splash of water. not really a mixer, but an accent.

I had an old college roommate who drank whiskey and water daily. No top shelf stuff, we're talking Old Granddad here. Come to think of it, that kid was probably the first fledgling alcoholic I encountered. If it wasn't cheap 5ths of whiskey it was cases of Natty Ice. "Ballin on a budget" he'd say. Not that I'm knocking him, he was always a pretty bright guy but he was one of those drunks that found himself much more capable of expressing his ideas with a bit of the juice. That and the kid could listen to any song once and play it on the guitar and that's always good for a fun time in the Quads.

I let the cube melt and have that fusion. Two cubes makes just enough water for me. Although Woodford reserves I can take neat.
