Need computer help...

I have a Vista right, so it's always been slow and stuff and freezing up since i download loads of movies and shows. But now I get random pop-ups and Hotmail & Facebook especially don't work...I had a trojan that showed up in my AVG anti-virus and I got rid of it but it was a Program File in the C drive....Laptop is freezing up more and more randomly..What should I do?

Is there a test I can run to figure out what's wrong? I have the hardware or whatever CDs, so should I put those in and just reboot everything? Which CD would I use?

Haha I'm lost as hell but help would be appreciated and of course I'll rep.

Your computer isn't fast enough to run Vista, downgrade to XP.

Yeah when you download torrents, they can have viruses, you have to be careful where you get them from.

You can try downloading a program like Malwarebytes Anti-malware and see if it picks up anything that AVG missed.

downloading too much, and doing it from not too trustful sites is never good for your computer.

Also, do you download your files to the same partition windows is on?

1.) What are you system specs? Processor speed, RAM, video card, etc.

To find out System Information, click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type msinfo32.exe. More than likely if it's a factory-bought computer it's more than capable to run Vista probably.

2.) Do you go to porn sites? Have you installed programs that look like Windows popups saying that it will get rid of spyware and that your computer is infected?

A lot of porn sites automatically try to install software into your computer (malware, spyware) that will block out administer actions and lock up your computer.

Do you have the original operating system software to reinstall Windows Vista?

You might have to reformat your computer to get rid of your spyware if that indeed is what it is. It depends on how bad your infection is if you have one because Spyware removal programs usually can't get rid of everything. It's better to prevent it, than get infected and try to get rid of it. I've downloaded torrents for over two years and I've never gotten viruses/spyware/malware or things that lock up my computer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I do. If I reformat the computer, I'll lose all my files but it will be as if it's new right?
