He really is one of the more complex guys in Hollywood. You've got Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, Matchstick Men, Bringing Out The Dead, Raising Arizona, etc etc, then all the just absolute garbage. Maybe Adaptation's really a biopic and there really are two Nick Cages.

FYI: Pretty much every movie released in the first quarter of the year (Jan-March) is always pure crap. These are movies that studios have shelved for years, almost ended up direct to DVD or released only because of contractual obligations. Its usually a good idea to avoid movies that come out thru March/April like the plague. The real movies start releasing early May.

This is a pretty big year for movies though. Such a shame these first few months have been crappy. And no I haven't seen Watchmen yet, but that's just one film.

For those that think he's a good actor, could you post examples? Because I can't think of any off hand.

I thought the Weather Man was great...I never thought of him as a great actor but I usually liked his stuff.

All great movies in the last decade. Like I said, starting the last few years, as in 2005 and on, he's just in it for the money.

I did like National Treasure, though, but I wouldn't consider it a great movie by any stretch of the imagination.

Add Leaving Las Vegas to my list I posted above, and those are his best movies.

Face/Off and Con Air are a tier below because they are just senseless, awesome action movies with no real acting, but they're still good.

I agree, Lord of War was such a miss at the box offices, but Cage was quite perfect for that role. The only good other role I can remember from him was from that movie with David Caruso....anyone remember??

He doesn't really act. He's just himself.
