Default Quincy Douby Called Up To Toronto Raptors

NEW YORK, March 24, 2009 – The Toronto Raptors today signed Erie BayHawks guard Quincy Douby, making him the 17th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2008-09 NBA Development League Season and the first for the BayHawks in the team’s history. Douby joins fellow former NBA D-Leaguers Nathan Jawai, Pops Mensah-Bonsu and Patrick O’Bryant on the Raptors roster.

Douby, a 6-3, joined the BayHakws on March 11 and has played in five games, averaging 18.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 28.6 minutes. He scored in double-figures in all five games, including a season-high 23 points in a 107-98 loss at Albuquerque on March 21.

Selected in the first round, 19th overall, by the Sacramento Kings in the 2006 NBA Draft, Douby averaged 4.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in 10.7 minutes over 116 career games with the Kings before being released by Sacramento on January 21, 2009.

In 95 career games at Rutgers University, Douby averaged 17.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists, finishing his career ranked sixth in school history in scoring (1,690) while holding the school’s career record for points scored in a single season (839, 2005-06). During his junior year, Douby led the Big East in scoring, and finished sixth nationally, with 25.4 points per game and earned first-team All-Big East honors.

Douby is expected to join the Raptors today and will be available on Wednesday with Toronto hosts the Milwaukee Bucks at Air Canada Center.

We will forever rue the day that Moon turned out to be a pretty solid pickup from the d-league. We already play like a d-league team now so why not actually be one?

It's part of BC's brilliant vision. Quincy Douby and Jake Voskuhl may be irrelevent to you, but if we keep them long enough they are gonna transform themselves into Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard. Seriously.

This season is lost. You can't blame BC for having a look at some D-League players to see what they got. There's always a diamond in the rough. I wish we would have picked up Sessions before Milwaukee. That would have been an awesome pickup for us.

I would completely agree with you if we were pulling a Miami of last year and rolling with those players for the majority, if not all, of the game. But for some reason, the team refuses to go into full tank mode and the starters are still half assing and playing heavy minutes for a losing cause. BC needs to smarten the F up and stop wasting our money on what have for the most part proven to be irrelevant assets and bench warmers.

It's just a waste, i seen Quiuncy Douby play and he isn't that good he was on a crappy Sacramento Kings team and couldn't even get steady minutes ..... plus he's way to short to be our Shooting Guard. Like we have so many scrubs on this team i don't know why our GM keeps on bringing in more ......

He isn't a PG any ways...he's a scorer like we need more of them like we need more small guards....come on BC we need some wing players why didn't he bring up one of the wing players in the D-league?

Like:
-------------------GP MPG PTS FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT%
James White 6'7"---34 41.1 25.9 8.6-15.6 .549 1.4-3.9 .368 7.3-8.6 .856
Jawad Williams 6'9"-14 35.9 25.4 9.2-20.5 .449 3.1-6.6 .473 3.9-4.7 .818
Marcus Williams 6'7"41 42.5 22.9 8.4-18.9 .443 1.0-3.2 .315 5.1-6.1 .829
All wing players....I dunno I'm no GM but at least take a look at them?

Because the Raps need a warm body to occupy the end of the bench in case of emergency and to work with in practice.

The guy isn't going to play, it's an inconsequential signing, it means nothing and deserves less discussion.
