Default Isiah Talks To Sterling

Quote:
NEW YORK -- Isiah Thomas is actively seeking work again, and he spoke several weeks ago with Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling in a meeting arranged by current coach/general manager Mike Dunleavy, ESPN.com learned Wednesday.

Several NBA sources confirmed the February meeting between the former president and general manager of the New York Knicks, adding that there were follow-up discussions between Thomas and other high-ranking club officials -- but also stressing that no job has been offered.

Sterling is said to be considering adding another executive to the Los Angeles front office to alleviate some of Dunleavy's responsibilities in his dual role as coach and general manager. Former Lakers and Grizzlies general manager Jerry West was linked to a possible Clippers front office job before he publicly disavowed any interest.

The discussions between Thomas and the Clippers were described by one source as informal yet substantive. Thomas remains under contract to the Knicks for the remainder of this season and two more, but he has the franchise's permission to seek employment elsewhere. He was fired as Knicks coach and general manager last spring and was replaced by Donnie Walsh in the front office and Mike D'Antoni on the bench.

One source with knowledge of Thomas' thinking said it now appears he has shifted his focus to pursuing a head coaching position at the college level. The same source said Thomas' name was discussed at the highest levels of the Grizzlies organization when Memphis fired Marc Iavaroni earlier this season.

More Here...

I won't mind this if we bring in Thomas as a scout due to his draft record.

I have a feeling things will turn around, Isiah is POISON! Sure hes made some good draft choices (Nate Robinson, David Lee) but hes gonna influence Dunleavy to make bunk ass signings (ie Jerome James) and make trades for guys on the decline (Steve Francis, Marbury, Eddy Curry etc) PLEASE DONT HIRE ISIAH!

I doubt Isiah will have the balls to stand up to Sterling and tell him who to trade for/sign and I doubt Sterling takes on many long term deals like the Knicks owner did. Sure, we dealt for Zach, but he had three years left on his deal, didn't hurt us much.

Regardless, I believe next year is going to be a damn good one, probably best I've felt going into a season since right after we dealt Mr. Lima for Sammy.

Thomas is doing what he can to try to get back into the game, and with his daughter set to attend Loyola Marymount, he offered to work for the Clippers without getting paid because he is still receiving money from the Knicks, Dunleavy said.

The Clippers were sympathetic to Thomas' overtures.

"Isiah came to us," Dunleavy said in a telephone interview Thursday morning. "I wasn't going to be a jerk and say, 'I can't talk to you.' But there's no position in the organization for him."
Yeah, I thought it would have something to do with Isiah trying to get back into the game.

To be honest, I would love him as a scout, mainly if he does it for free.

I love how you always follow up things, Q.

So essentially it would have been an easier situation to deal with since no pay would have been involved.. if problems begin to creep up, its near childs play, to get rid of him..

However that last quote by Mike-D basically states that the Clipps have no room for him in the organization.. which between you and me, Im very glad about...

Much like you stated in a previous post... I also feel that under the right health status this team is primed for success.. so I hope major changes are not made.

E.Gor will be a star.. Zach will give his usual 20 and 10 (not to mention he seems to deliver in the clutch..) Big man status is on lock with Kaman and Camby.. PLUS.. a high pick is coming the Clipps way. Baron is also here to direct traffic, and if he is not dealt.. I really hope that Mike-D loosens the reigns and let the team cut loose, because this team is in fact made for the running game...

So things are looking up for next season, and I hope that they the FO realizes that they just need to work on the cohesion of the aspects already in place.

loool

that would be comical to see a guy that gives way too much money to role players, working for a owner who is very hesitant to extend players.

Nothing would get done ever.
