Default Does anyone miss Jason Collins?

I would like to see him back in Jersey to school our young bigs. Brooke can learn from another Stanford guy.

i do, he had what we didnt today, he played great defense today.... started out rejecting anderson, then lopez, then drew a offensive foul, had 4 points, and continued to play good d, we didnt play any defense...

his contract expires this year, maybe we can get him and use him in situations like today

in the past games, he played great d by making these players go-.....

big z= 3 for 8 on field goals
yao ming= 6 for 16 on field goals
david west= 3 for 13 on field goals
matt bonner= 3 for 9 on field goals
lamarcus alridge= 2 for 14 on field goals
lamar odom= held for only 2 points in one game

collins does stuff that doesnt show up on stats and that what we need him for, DEFENSE, but dont use him when we need offense because his offense is just pathetic and he needs to get in shape, but im pretty sure he has bad knee problems, and has had them since college which has slowed him on the court limiting his athletism and jumping.... i talked to him about his knees at his camp...

collins is a better fit for the nets as a backup center or 3rd string for both c and pf than josh boone.... boone is a better player but his time has come for somewhere else and he has no confidence

Not at all.

Believe me, I want defense more than offense, but Collins wouldn't help our situation. We were worse last year with him. And how exactly is he helping the T-wolves? They are at the bottom of the league.

His defense isn't that great to begin with. He's slow and sluggish. The only thing he can do is take charges every now and then. And people like you and Frank go nuts over that. OMG, HE CAN DRAW CHARGES. GET THAT MAN HIS WELL DESERVED 6 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT.

Yeah right. He's a bonafide scrub, and he's lucky he has a job in the NBA. What he cannot do GREATLY over weighs what he can do.

He can draw charges and play decent defense against SLOW big men. Ok, I'll give him that.

He can't rebound, he can't block shots, he can't guard quick big men, he can't score, he can't handle the ball, he can't dribble, he can't shoot free throws, he can't shoot from anywhere, he can't avoid getting blocked EVERY TIME inside, he can't run, he can't hustle and get loose balls (because he's too damn slow), he can't step his game up when the team needs him most, he can't be the vocal leader.......and the list goes on.

i miss collins.
he was the heart of the defense and one of the highest BBIQ guys in the league. collins is a great big to be able to plug in the game in certain situations... maybe 15-20 mpg. that's an asset few teams have.

and with kidd off the team, collins' limited offense is not much of an issue. you get scoring from every other position now, and collins could set some awesome picks for devo in the S/R game.

making occasional jumpers doesnt make you a shooting big man.

i never understood why he didn't take more of those short to midrange jumpers.
teams would usually lay off of him, but he actually has a nice short jumper.

collins could have helped us out a lot if he'd represented more of a short jumper threat. it would have prevented the other big man from cheating back to the hoop.

kind of the same deal with josh boone- i have very little patience with a big man who is unwilling or unable to make short jumpers.

I miss Collins attitude but his game was all about drawing fouls and giving his guy a harder time....He played almost 0 offense which is not good for a starter of any position

watch how many big men with mediocre bone structure have to cheat laterally to block the guard's defender. see what i mean? that often leads to all their "moving screen" violations.

honestly, i don't get what you guys have against collins. as recspecs pointed out in many ways, he's very limited athletically, but the things he does well are awesome at helping a team win ball games.

who doesn't want a rotation player who can do that against dwight howard to yao to an aging shaq?

i really don't understand you guys.

But big bone structure is not always good. I remember Collins setting some clean picks but the guy that got picked would go flying leading to the ref thinking that he set a dirty screen. Take that video of LeBron running into him. LeBron is pretty damn big and he bounced off Collins like a coin to a brick wall. Collins wasnt even moving.
