Default The most dangerous cities in America

According to City Crime Rankings 2008-2009 by Kathleen O'Leary Morgan, Scott Morgan, and Dr. Rachel Boba. I'm surprised that Jackson, Mississippi is on the list and that New York isn't in the top 25. Do you live in one of them?

Quote:
1 New Orleans, LA
2 Camden, NJ
3 Detroit, MI
4 St. Louis, MO
5 Oakland, CA
6 Flint, MI
7 Gary, IN
8 Birmingham, AL
9 Richmond, CA
10 North Charleston, SC
11 Cleveland, OH
12 Baltimore, MD
13 Miami Gardens, FL
14 Memphis, TN
15 Youngstown, OH
16 Atlanta, GA
17 Compton, CA
18 Orlando, FL
19 Little Rock, AR
20 Minneapolis, MN
21 Washington, DC
22 Philadelphia, PA
23 Jackson, MS
24 Newark, NJ
25 Milwaukee, WI

crime in nyc has gone down a ton. in fact i think last year was the lowest gun deaths since they kept records.

im not at all surprised that NO takes the top spot.

I just moved from Oakland CA (#5 on the list) up to Portland OR. There were parts of Oakland I definitely stayed away from at night.

I'm really surprised that places like Little Rock, Gary, Flint, Youngstown, Minneapolis, are ahead of places like Philadelphia and Newark.

Trenton, NJ deserves honorable mention if a place like Youngstown is being listed.

Richmond, CA is horrible.

When they determine the most dangerous cities, does it go by number of crimes/population ratio? NYC might have more incidents than Richmond, but it also has 7-8 million people.
