I will probably post the same book in this thread two years from now. I read about two pages a day and call it good. Learning a lot though.

I started reading Dreams from My Father by President Obama. Whatever you may think of his politics this is by far one of the most introspective and insightful piece of work written by politician. Its literary merits allows it to stand on its own as a memoir comparable to Fugitive days or motorcycle diaries. Its rhetoric and discourse is tight and well thought out. Reading it I can't help but separate the Obama of the autobiography and the president we see through the lenses of the media.

Yeah the film is based on the book. Supposed to be much better than the movie.

Oscar Wilde had a pretty interesting/controversial life.

i need to read some Oscar Wilde. i don't exactly want to jump into Dorian Grey right now, but i know that this guy's wordplay and prose was as good as anybody else's in history. maybe start with some of his short stories.

Hunter S. Thompson would be at the top of my list. Jack Kerouac and Ken Kesey would also make good biographical research papers. All three authors make appearances in Tom Wolfe's The Electric KoolAid Acid Test.

Dorian was the first of his work that I ever read. He's definitely one of those rare talents. I want to start reading some of his plays soon.
