Update from the OP: I finally finished Shelby Foote's lengthy Civil War trilogy. It was full of some very entertaining anecdotes, especially in the 3rd volume, but also included what seemed like every minute detail of every battle of the war. My friends will be happy that I'm moving on and hopefully won't be boring them with Civil War trivia any longer.

My next book:

About a group of hippies in the early 70s who get kicked off their commune and decide to make new lives for themselves in the wilds of Alaska. I've read a couple of Boyle's other books and really enjoyed them, The Road To Wellville and East Is East especially.

I just finished "I love you Beth Cooper". I know it might cheesy since the movie lookd like just another teeny bopper film but the book was really well written, funny and entertaining. I'm definitely reccomemding it to anyone looking for a nice entertaining read.

Rereading Malcolm Gladwell? There is about 20-50 pages of content in his books to begin with. He's one of these guys who writes an article and then someone says to him "Hey, if you make that 250 or more pages we'll give you a book deal and make you rich" and so he pads pads pads.

He's hardly the only one, and he's one of the best there is at finding flatout fascinating stuff to write about, but why spend the time reading it twice when you could read something else?
