Douglas Adams is a straight G.

He writes like a great battle rapper battles. He'll start a conversation or a sentence or phrase. And then it keeps going, and it's brilliant. And then it still keeps going, and you just can't believe that anyone could be that clever for that long within one phrase. And then it still keeps going.

Next thing you know you're just runnin around goin: "OHHHHH SHIT!" because it blew your mind.

What I'm trying to say is I like Douglas Adams.

I got interested in this guy's life after discovering that an aunt of mine had a torrid love affair with him back in the early 1950s. A fascinating, complex individual and an under appreciated writer.

I notice most people rate books way too highly. That has nothing to do with the fact the book was interesting enough to read to the finish right?

Anyway, I have a few books I'm reading in school. A history and a world religions one. Both are kind of dry.I have to read a couple outside of class texts for world religions though.

One is called Religious Literacy by Stephen Prothero. In the intro he talks about how America is the most religious country in the world yet the people practicing these religions are ignorant of what their religion is really about. He says it's just the opposite in Europe. European students are far more knowledgeable about religion but it turns out religion is somewhat of a joke over there.

It's really making me realize how young this country is. We never went through the same hell England, France, and Spain did. Anyway, the intro had me interested.

.

No matter the quality of the book, its very rare the times that I dont finish a novel. Usually I rate them so high because I specifically search out the type that fits my taste and its cry rare that I read a horrible one.

As for the Passage it's the second time I've read the novel and its over 800 pages long.. It really is good.. But that's assuming that it fits your taste. Its definitely a genre-novel.

Just started its sequel The Twelve which came out a couple days ago

When is the ISH book club discussion of American Gods supposed to happen? I still have about 90 pages to go.
