Re: Mike Brown Wins Coach of the Year
I haven't always been the biggest Mike Brown fan, but I think he deserved the award this season. He kept the team functioning while they were dealing with unbelievably bad luck on the injury front. I still don't think he's the greatest X's/O's coach in the world, and anytime a team has the success that the Cavs had, there are about umpteen different reasons why, but he helped keep them very consistent. Unlike years past, they didn't lose a ton of games to poor teams, and the team never lost more than 2 in a row all season.
"Coach of the year" is a subjective award, and I can find several coaches who are better than Mike Brown, but he's gotten the team to buy into his philosophy, and I give him credit for giving up some responsibility on the offensive end. While that says something about his inability to coach offense, it says something about his lack of ego.
