Of all the countries that legally and legitimately possess nuclear arsenals -- the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France and China -- there is one commonality that binds them together: each nation is at least a fairly respectable state with lots of political, military and economic interests that would prevent them from getting involved in a cataclysmic nuclear exchange. Of the additional nuclear states -- India, Pakistan, Israel (probably) and North Korea -- only three appear to follow the same pattern as the aforementioned five legitimate states. (Can you guess which one doesn't?) One of those nations has proven numerous times to be a rogue, despotic state that appears to be a major threat to world peace.

You do, however, bring up an interesting point. It is certainly hypocritical to possess the second largest arsenal of weapons of mass destruction (Russia actually possesses the most) and be so adamantly opposed to the spread of such weapons. But it is clearly a necessary hypocrisy. As stated previously, it is imperative that responsible governments act in a manner which diminishes the possibility of a nuclear war. With that said, I am certainly for the abolition of nuclear weapons; but I also recognize that, considering the current geopolitical climate of the world, it is not yet a plausible option, so opposition to the spread of nuclear weapons is as far as I'll go for now.

Fukcing this!

I'm not just talking about that retard, though. I'm talking about other countries as well. Like I said it's a smart move, but it's also hypocritical. I think The Answer summed it up best.

Put yourself in the position of one of the smaller countries in terms of power who are trying to advance. Do you honestly think the western world would let any country rise without the ability to hold their own in a nuke fight?

Do you think 3rd world countries in Africa and around the world would be exploited the way they are if they had the means to protect themselves?

I understand why the smaller countries are trying to get those kinds of weapons, though since it almost ensures safety from the super powers. In modern times, if you dont have one, the supers will have no problem invading a country for something they really want.

Look at Iran. Why isnt the U.S going all gung hoe~!! to war with them like iraq? Because they can be a threat with their WMDs. Same thing during the cold war. Both powers were too scared in the end to risk nuclear war.

Iran isn't afraid of a nuclear war.

If you agree with The Answers post then why the f*ck are you still going on about hypocrisy?

I'll bet you 5 dollars they are. They would't take the risk of launching a nuke attack and in turn getting nuked to hell by every superpower in the U.N.

Too many dead people. Modern Nukes aren't like the atom bombs dropped on Japan, they'll cover more than 50,000 miles.

Do I need to quote his post for you? He agreed that it's hypocrisy.

You need to learn how to read....

Yeah he agreed its hypocrisy. A necessary hypocrisy. Why are you still going out about how the US being hypocritical if it is clearly necessary? It doesnt matter two sh*ts if they are being hypocritical, it is completely and utterly necessary for the safety and well-being of the world.

All this talk of nukes getting flung across the world has me thinking, at what point do we all agree that it only takes one idiot who doesnt like playing the "mutually assured destruction" game to end the world?

One things for sure, if they do nuke tests and I was apart of the UN or prez, I would definately make it known in no unclear terms that we will f*ck you up for any such act. Screw hypocrisy... ill take safety.

They aren't stupid enough to use these nukes on any country. They just want to have a nuke just to gain some political clout in the global arena. And who knows, their scientists aren't that good over there. Every missile they try ends up being a dud.

If Iran detonates a nuke outside its borders. US, ISRAEL will turn that country into glass.

I will bet one million bucks, that if Iran does have the nuke, no one in public will know they have it. Israel WILL NOT allow them to have one.

You willing to risk the destruction of Seoul?

The reason no one is budging is because N. Korea has thousands of guns pointed at S. Korea's capital. If shi t hits the fan, Seoull and S. Korea along with the North will cease to exist.

That may be true. But Israel WILL NOT allow a nuclear armed Iran. You can put money on that.
