Not that big of a deal, if anything it's a good thing for the company. They're being partially bought out by Fiat in exchange for a 20% stake in some of Chrysler's technologies. So it's not like they're folding, just restructuring, which is happening like a decade too late.

This is a great example of why bankruptcy is good.

The company isn't going away. their assets are just being bought out by other companies.

Process can't be avoided. You'd be surprised how many foreign companies have huge stakes in US businesses, especially after our latest meltdown. If you can't get credit/capital in your own country you only have 2 options- collapse or be bought/financed by outside sources. It's only a matter of time before China becomes the world's leading financial superpower, I was just hoping it'd happen after my lifetime lol.

I'm sure glad Obama saw fit to give them 20 billion. I bet the Italians are happy though, it's 20 less billion they have to assume when Fiat takes over Chrysler. But who cares, it's only money on the back of taxpayers.

yeah, lets all get our panties in a twist about helping out an industry that actually produces material goods and provide employment around the country but say nothing about giving over a trillion dollars to a bunch of financiers who make nothing but little 101110111 that =$ and give very little in terms of US employment. with no oversight or control of how its spent. WTF.

We're becoming like Spain 500 years ago, by not relying on producers and just using money, piling up on our debt. Only way the US will get out of this slump is to be a bigger producer, which would include cars/food products/and even computer products.

ive never seen you complain about the 40% of all taxes that go to a bloated DoD budget. but somehow another 8 bil (how many outdated stealth jets is that? 4?) to a major manufacturer in this country is the worst thing ever.

good post. look at the world power of spain and its long slow collapse into one of the worst economies in Europe. Its due, primarily, to basically serving as a nation of financiers (gold and other materials from new world colonies came flowing back at such a huge rate) that collapsed upon itself.
