Default Prime Mike Tyson in the 1970's

How would he have fared against the likes of:

Ali (After his reinstatement)
Frazier
Foreman
Holmes
Norton

Impossible to say...

seems like the guys that were not intimidated by him could beat him though...I don't think anyone scared Ali or Foreman...maybe the others

fighters like Spinks had already lost before they stepped into the ring...

I do think that it is very possible that maybe Tyson "pre-King/jail" could have f*cked them all up...but we will never know...

It's pretty easy to tell when Cus died, he lost his way - not only in the ring, but out of it as well. It's one of the great what if's in sports had Cus stayed alive another 10 years.

Mike Tyson needed Cus to be at his best both physically and mentally.

You should download the documentary called "Tyson" if you are interested in his story. It's on demonoid for download.

Ali vs Tyson and Frazier vs Ali would've been EPIC. Tyson never faired well if the fight went past 5-6 rounds and against the speed, size, and boxing mastery of Ali I think he tire out and lose, but if he caught Ali with a vicious hook, you never know. Frazier vs Tyson would've been a slugfest, the perfect heavyweight matchup, with Tyson coming out the winner I think.

Tyson vs Holmes (both in their prime) would be more or less the same as Tyson vs Ali, speed and technical mastery vs power (and speed lol). George Foreman I think would've dispatched the smaller Tyson much the same way he did Frazier.

I think it is clear that he always kinda had mental issues though...

I'll never forget watching this interview:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PmV_vsYgPI
(:37 second clip)

and just watching Tyson sit their and say nothing while Givens was explaining on live T.V. that her husband is a freakin nut job...

It was like watching a mother talking to a doctor about her 5 year child...while the child is in the background playing with big legos...

I would predict 0-5 with four embarrassing defeats. I will expound on why when I get a chance.

Late Prime Ali (Early 70s) TKOs Tyson late
Early Prime Ali gets KOed
Tyson KOs Frazier inside 3
Foreman KOs Tyson inside 8
Holmes decisions Tyson if he doesn't get KOed
Tyson KOs Norton in 1

Ali - this one is close.. could either be an early knockout for tyson or a late knockout by ali.. too close to call.. tyson has never fought anyone like ali and vice versa..

Frazier - this would be best fight out of all IMO.. smokin' joe got some heat in those punches.. we all know tyson got 'em too, but frazier has a solid chin.. i think this one would go to the scorecards.. unno who wins though..

Foreman - either a late round knockout for mike or scorecards.. Foreman is too slow, Mike would easily duck under his jabs and counter with a hook + uppercut..

Holmes - we already saw what tyson did to holmes.. holmes was old, but i think tyson would still knock him out if he was in his prime.. he would probably last a couple of rounds longer than he did.. lol

Norton - probably the easiest fight to call.. tyson would simply walk through him..

I don't understand this at all. Your saying that a younger, quicker 1966 Muhammad Ali is MORE succeptible to Tyson than he would have been after a 3 1/2 year layoff from the sport?

Robin to this day is sorry she ever gave that interview.

^^^^^Tyson didn't fare well in the late rounds AFTER his return from prison. Remember that beatdown he put on Razor Ruddock? That fight went the distance.

Buster Douglas and while Tyson wasnt in his prime Lennox Lewis. No I'm not saying Buster or Lennox = Ali, but to say he never fought anyone like Ali when he lost to these two? Well its a bit silly.

Douglas's mother had just passed away before that fight happened...

I think maybe that night Douglas could have beaten damn near anyone...he was unstoppable that night...scared of nothing...

and then of course there is the same Tyson fan "blah blah" about him not caring or being prepared at all...

but I really think it was just more of Douglas just fighting like one of the greatest ever...
