Default [VIDEO] Bonzi Wells playoff highlights vs. Spurs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uca66cK-WrA&eurl=

These are highlights from Game 2 and Game 3. Just a taste of what Bonzi brings to the table, for those that may not be all that familiar with him.

oh c'mon lets get real. contract year, had to step up to get paid. and if you think hes going to play like that for 82 games you're just delusional. i'm not bashing wells, good player, but its a different system in houston. nothing like sac.

Targus, give it up. You're obviously feeling the loss of Bonzi. It's easy to tell because this video wasn't posted to represent what he'll give the Rockets night in and night out for 82 games. Nobody expects him to put up 23/12 for the Rockets as a 3rd freaking option. Like I said, it's to give people "a taste of what he brings to the table". This video does just that. It shows him scoring from the post and playing tough around the basket, which he will do every night. That's what he hangs his hat on and you know it.

And while we're discussing him, you do know he's essentially in a contract year again this year, right? So much for using that as an excuse for doubting his success in Houston.

Please stop with the bitter disposition already, especially if you're going to come into the Rockets forum just to drop it on us.

bonzi isn't the ideal fit for the rockets. He's a nice player, but he flourished in the kings system. But you have to realize that he was OK until the playoffs, then he did great. He basically did his production plus what Brad miller was expected to do. He got the touches Bmill would have, but the spurs locked down bmill. In houston, he won't get those looks. TMAC and Yao will take most of those looks away. Bonzi can't shoot the three so he can't play off of yao either. He posted up a lot last year, he can't do that on the rockets with yao down low. He can't drive to the rim, because Tmac will be doing most of the driving. His rebounds were great for a guard last year, because the Kings had no good rebounders. The Rockets have yao, mcgrady, howard, and battier averaging between 12-5 rebounds, so there aren't going to be many rebounds for bonzi to pick up.
You guys got a good player, but he's probably sixth man quality

Bonzi didn't play like that during the season. He all of a sudden started playing like an all-star in the playoffs. I think he wanted to win. That's my guess.

Anyway, why doesn't your team just throw it up to Yao everytime for a dunk? He has like a 6 inch advantage over most centers. What is the deal? Doesn't he know how to jump at all? With those long arms, he could just reach over the guy everytime and stuff it. Explain to me why he can't jump or what is the deal.

Why does everyone keep saying "he didn't play like that during the season"?

I know he didn't put up 23/12 for the entire season. He put up 14/8/3 with nearly 2 steals. I'm very aware that his production went up in the playoffs, but the STYLE OF PLAY is the same. A lot of Rockets fans don't know his style and this video is a good example of it. That's the point of the video, and nothing more. How hard is that to get?

Last season the Rockets SG was David freaking Wesley and his contribution in 33.4 minutes was 10/2.5/2.9 with .83 spg (and only 40.3% FG). It won't take much effort at all for Bonzi to upgrade on that. In fact, in 04-05 Bonzi took only 21.6 minutes per game to put up those kinds of numbers.

Bonzi is a nice scoring punch for the Rockets, which they've lacked outside of TMac and Yao, and he is great for causing mismatches. Nobody (except maybe you guys) is expecting him to explode for 18/8/4/2 or anything like that. A mere 13/6/3/1.5 on mid 40% shooting would be perfectly fine, and judging by his per minute production in the past, that's about what should be expected.

Targus, the Rockets signed Bonzi to a 2 year deal with a player option for next year. There is a 99% chance he will opt out no matter what, so he's very much auditioning for a contract again this season. We all know how players perform in contract years, don't we?

i see him averaging around 13 ppg, 7 rbg, 1.5 spg, but one thing is for sure, you guys are going to have a much better chance of beating the spurs with wells on your squad.

His rebounds will be effected by what position he plays.
