I saw the same thing, he was asked about using legalization of marijuana to quell the economic situation, which he said he didn't think was the solution. (i'm pretty sure saying "we're gonna fix the economy by selling pot" is not something a president would ever say) He's said repeatedly he believes it's a state issue and was strongly supported by california medical marijuana patients.

I saw the town hall deal. He was right when he said it's not a "way out of this economic crisis" which is how the question was phrased. Damn good start though. Potential taxable revenue aside, the amount just from ending that portion of the "war on drugs" is in the billions, quite literally. The way he so nonchalantly shrugged it off was discouraging, but the PRESIDENT actually addressed the question (somewhat). Baby steps.
