Default Melo, Durant, Beasley, and Even Len Bias Has A Lot In Common

Is it just me or does all Maryland born star type players have the same stregnths, Melo, Durant, and Beasley has some of the smoothest jumpers I have ever seen in my life, its like shooting forms and accuracy come natural to them. I have not seen much of Bias, but I know he was a 6'8 forward type of player who played the same type of game as Carmelo, Beasley, and Durant, power forward sizes with great perimeter games, I love their skills. Is it the fact that in B More and DC and the hoods over there they focus on that type of game on the playgrounds, or is it just a coincidence?

They all had very similar careers so far, particularly Durant and Beasley.

Being from DC and having the opportunity of seeing all play since HS I do think its a DC thing. Few DC players are what you would call BIg Men and most are tweeners type of players IF you ever get a clip of Elgin Baylor you would see he is the Godfather of the DC style of hoops.

If you really look at it, even Sam Cassell plays a similar style even as a pg when looking at his scoring

The same could be said about Seattle products. The last couple years you had Crawford, Roy, A Brooks among others coming from up west.

Look at the Bay Area hoopers from GP, to Shaw to Kidd.

It's a product of environment.

I don't know where Big Dog Robinson was from, but he had that same game. So did Mashburn and a couple of other guys I can't think of.

If you think about it, Pierce plays the same type of game as Melo, so I think it's a common thing.

I think it's as much a result of them playing the same position and being in an area with a lot of fundamentally sound players due to the absurd number of basketball camps as a result of the rich black people in Prince George's County.

More like frozen rope J... Flat and straight at the back of the rim, ala tim Hardaway.

You might find a continuity in summer league coaches in B More and things like that contributing to similarity's.

Don't remember what Garnett's was like when he first came into the league, but Wade had a poor jumpshot for his rookie season at least.
