A lot of people, including myself, were pessimistic about Griffin's true height. I thought he'd measure 6'7" or 6'8" but turns out he measures 6'9" in socks and 6'10" in shoes which is legit NBA power forward height and will certainly help dismiss the undersized tag that a lot of power forwards have in today's game. Not huge news or anything, but I'm sure the team that will be drafting number one will be relieved to hear it.
I’ve stood next to basketball players for going on 30 years. I know a fraud when I see one. Griffin is no fraud. He’s a long tall boy who clearly stands a hand above the 6-foot-6 crowd that heavily populates college hoops.
You can eyeball a player and still get his height wrong by at least 2 or 3 inches.
Based on what I've seen of him I don't see how he could be more than 6'8 barefoot. In college he's listed at 6'10 and you generally have to subtract 2 or 3 inches to get a player's real height because they're all exaggerated when it comes to big men - like Beasely was. Hasheem Thabeet isn't 7'3 either I'd say he's 7'1 at the most, he barely looks 7' to me.
