Drunk driving is a big deal, no question, but you're acting like he's bad person when in reality it's carelessness and a bad decision. That's not the same thing as being wicked, just stupid.

i agree drunk driving is a big deal. i had a neighbor who was a very nice guy who KILLED a lady driving drunk. served time in prison, got out and continued to drive drunk. dont know if redick has a drinking problem but this will cause some concern.

He's a drinker all right. I went out with my friend and his colleague last year who attended Duke. He said Redick would get drunk before big games like the Duke vs. Maryland matches.

He's just trying to get that street hunger, he'll be a better player because of this.

Maybe the night before the game, but not the day of the game.

I understand everyone's concern about drunk drivers. However, just because you got a DWI or DUI doesn't mean you were drunk. I wasn't drunk. I was a minor who was over the legal limit for a minor but under the legal limit for an adult. If I was 21, I would have gotten a speeding ticket.

Anyone here ever speed?

People die that way too. Just saying "he got a DUI" doesn't tell the whole story.

JJ's over 21. He may not have been horribly drunk but that particular excuse won't fly.

I'm not trying to apply it to this situation. Just the whole DUI thing in general. Sometimes it is misleading.

I haven't read anything that listed a BAC for him either so I'm waiting for all the facts. Chances are, he was fu-king wasted because he pulled a U-turn to avoid the checkpoint.

And I'm not trying to take the stupidity out of drinking and driving. It is incredibily dumb. It doesn't make someone a bad person though. People die in cars without alcohol involved and people die in accidents of other sorts all the time. Drinking and driving makes you stupid (in that instance), not a bad person necessarily.

If that is the case, yes, I would believe that.

I thought he meant right before the game. Like the day of the game.

That statement makes more sense now. Sorry.
