Was Tyson even part of her life. The way the original article talked about his daughter made it seem like her mother was only raising her while he was paying child support. I'm only assuming though.

Rest in Peace. regardless of your opinion of her father, a child should not have to suffer.

Tyson is actually living proof that a person needs more than just the opportunity to make a lot of money. He had a terrible upbringing, his father abandoning the family when he was 2 and his mother dying when he was 16. And of course, he was poor. An orphan with abandonment issues and no real education growing up on the streets of New York. He was given no proper guidance, no maney, no morals, no knowledge of anything but how to fight. Anger over his ****ty childhood fueled a great fighter but a scarred human being. People with backgrounds like his normally end up dead or in jail by his age, and he damn sure ended up in jail for a while anyway. Due to his lack of financial knowledge he ended up squandering all of his money on expensive crap and leechers, went bankrupt years ago and now makes what money he can off of selling his dignity as a caricature of himself. I may never be a millionaire, but I don't envy his life one bit.

The media repeatedly seemed to feel the need to point out that the girl died in her "meager" home, or "humble" dwelling. I'm not sure what this tiny glimpse of the family's social status was meant to mean, but I'm positive it was there. I couldn't quite figure it out why while hearing it on the radio.

The other thing is that this is one of those horrible situations that exemplifies how much in this life we have no control over. I'm sure the people involved will spend the rest of their lives trying to put blame on someone, put blame on themselves, asking what they could have done. But the fact is this was such a bizarre fluke thing, and you can't hover over a child around the clock. I'm sure the question will be raised about weather this would have happened with the father in the house by people driving an agenda. Our stupid country will legislate some sort of cord law, making cords twist proof, or forcing all electronics to be wireless by 2015, only to a decade later find those wireless signals have made the entire species sterile.

It's a horribly sad case of **** happens. But the fact is that **** does in fact happen.

sorry to sound like a dick, but WTF was a 4 year old doing playing on a treadmill unsupervised? How about you make the workout room off limits?

Sad story.

I have a nephew who'll be four in a few weeks. And I have to say, when I'm over there, which is at least once a week, I am flat out paranoid at nearly every step he takes. He's into everything. And I see him often enough that it's not like this is a temporary reaction I have. But his parents who deal with him every day can't react like I do to every misstep he takes. If they did, that would be there whole life, and they'd probably have a massive stoke worrying about him. Not that they aren't disciplining him, but they can't act as preventatives for everything. A kid at that age is curious about literally every god damned thing in the whole world.

exactly. which is why something like a treadmill with a motor and fast moving parts should be in a room the kid cant access. Sounds like she was a lovely little girl. Very sad.

If there's one thing I never want to do in this world, it's bury a child.

One of the worst feelings and experiences I've ever had was when a good friend of mine was shot, rushed to the hospital, and pronounced dead shortly thereafter, and his mother crumbled to the ground outside the emergency room crying and pleading/begging for her baby to come back. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen and I simply don't think I could cope in the same situation. And I've endured alotta **** in this life.

I think part of the problem is that you can't keep them from everything all the time. It'd kill you. How dangerous is the thing really? That's a genuine question, I'd love to see some numbers on the number of instances in which something like this has happened with a treadmill. Kids will find ways to make things dangerous that you'd never imagine. You'd never let a kid that age go into the kitchen ever if you sat down and thought about all the possibilities. You can't keep the kid in a cage until he's 18.

That's why say this is a really unfortunate **** happens circumstance. I don't know that there are any answers. Sometimes bad stuff just happens. It doesn't make it any less tragic, it just is.
