They still need to improve their shooting. Did anybody watch the ESPN game last year vs. Orlando when Orlando triple teamed Brand, only for him to pass it to an open shooter for a miss? That's why we get Kapono. Lou Williams' minutes will boost assuming Andre Miller doesn't come back. He's no where near the PG Andre is but he's a better deep ball threat so he'll be expected to step up his shooting too. Thad's 3 point shooting went from 6 made as a rookie to 56 made. I expected him to keep improving that, plus how many lefty's you know who can't shoot? Team still needs a lot of work.

Quote:
“We are very excited to add one of the league’s most prolific three-point shooters in Jason Kapono,” Stefanski said. “We feel that this move addresses our goal of improving our shooting from the perimeter.

“I want to thank Reggie Evans for his contributions to the team for the past two seasons and we wish him only the best.”

The deal appears to be financial for Toronto: Evans will make $4.6 million this upcoming season and $5 million in 2010-2011. Kapono will make $6.2 million this coming season and $6.6 the season after. The deal will be finalized when both players pass their physicals.

Evans played sparingly this past season, but is one of the league’s most physical players and usually makes a big impact on the defensive end. Evans averaged 3.3 points a game last season.

In Kapono, the Sixers get one of the top three-point shooters in the league, which is the area in which they have struggled the most for the past two seasons – finishing last in the NBA both those years.

The sixers defense really isnt like that. They cant just start kapono and hide his defensive weaknesses.Thad Young already gets abused enough we dont need someone who is a worst defender then him starting.Kapono will prolly be like kareem rush was this season maybe recieve a little more time then him but not over 13 mins a game.I hope he gets more games played then kareem rush though.

Uhhh no Kareem Rush is no Jason Kapono.

Anyway, this trade is good for both teams. The Sixers still need to add shooters. 1 isnt enough. While Thad, Iggy, Lou can all improve as shooters you still need another shooter at the SG position most notably Willie Greens. He cant hit the 3 ball in practice let alone NBA games. If they can rid themselves of Willie and add another sniper? Its a plus. Then have Thad/Lou work with Mark Price again this offseason.

Why doesnt Toronto want Samuel Dalembert? You guys act like you dont need him. heh heh heh

Good luck to Kapono I guess. He just had the unfair expectation of living up to that contract. Should really be a 20mpg or less type of player but with all the politics that came with his contract and the fact that Toronto wings suck, his weaknesses were on full display. Sixers have more depth on the wing so for their sake, it'll be good that Kapono isn't out there for such a long period of time.

I had been hoping the Raptors might be a trade destination for Kaman. With Reggie Evans now there, it is 10x less likely, but would also be 100x more hilarious.

Good trade for both sides. I remember some rumors during the season of this trade.

Agreed. Neither Igoudala nor Young can play SG. Kapono is a legit shooter, and they have enough interior defense (Dalembert, Brand), and solid perimeter defense (Young & Iggy) that his liabilities won't be too bad when he's on the floor.
